keep afflecks open it is he only place where unique people can be themselves without chavs shouting abuse starting fights and generally kicking up a fuss. its part of the history of manchester if u close afflecks you might as well close manchester itself!
closing it down would be closing a part of manchester and condemning the rest of the community to suffer of seeing the stereotypes they perhaps find scary?
For loads of people, Afflecks Palace is the only place you can go to to be yourself AND see lots of fit emos at the same time.Afflecks is probably the only place i feel at home around people the same as me- who would want to close somewhere like that down? The whole world is going in the bin.
Afflecks Palace is one of the things I will remember about my 4 years in Manchester. It's the perfect place to kill a few hours and get a killer breakfast at the end of it all to cure that hangover! I was there Friday and wasn't happy that it could possibly be the last time.
I remember spending hours in this place 12 years ago - nursing one cup of coffee in the cafe and trying on endless clothes. It was THE place to go and I still love it. This is an integral part of Manchester and more needs to be done to support independant traders. Another sad sign of the times where economics is seen as more important than uniqueness and creative expression.
i dont think afflecks should close because alot of people would lose a place to meet. Manchester would lose a lot of business as a whole. People who only go to mancheter because of Afflecks wont go to manchester any more and will stay at home or get the train to quiggins in liverpool.Afflecks is wicked and noone should be able to close such an awesome 'landmark' as that
afflecks is a fab place were people who love the alternative scene can be at peace and shop in thire own good time it would be a real blow to manchester if this place goes.
We cannot allow private traders and small businesses to be squashed again. This place is part of Manchester's unique history and maintains diversity. Do we really want every high street in the UK to look the same?
One of the original unique venues in Manchester. I love Manchester developing but Afflecks Palace is such a colourful eccelctic mix with unique things to offer. Bruntwood, have some respect for character, and what gives a city its unique character are places like Afflecks, not mass development of offices and appartments! Blandness ! Have some foresight, give something back to the city and Save Afflecks.
Afflecks is iconic and is truly a one off. To close such a truly amazing and varied shopping experience would be to rip the soul out of Manchester. Please save this bastion of cool!
Afflecks palace is the only place or miles and miles where people can buy this sort of thing. The building is a part of history, and to convert it into overpriced flats would just be a sad waste. You cant shut down Afflecks just because you want more money!
i dont want afflecks to close because it is like the best shop in the world i get all my accessories from there and i should close down AFFELCKS RULES SAFE AFFLECKS
WTF,, afflects cant ever end,, where am i to buy my badges :( where am i to buy my clothes :(where am i to find chavs in corners cryin because there afriad of everything? :(
As the nucleus of Manchester's northern quarter, providing a platform for Manchester's retro culture and alternative clothing and architecturally part of manchester's heritage, afflecks palace should be preserved in it's present form to attract residents, students and tourists alike to a varied shopping experience
I fully support the campaign to save Affleck's Palace. It is part of Manchester's heritage, and we should be supporting our independent retail businesses, and not allowing our city centre to be totally dominated by corporate retail chains.
Afflecks Palace cannot be allowed to close - it is the life and soul of the Northern Quarter and to have the building turned into flats or another faceless business development shows such short-sightedness by developers. It may not make them piles of money but it's a part of what makes Manchester the city it is. There are so many other big beautiful empty buildings in the city that could be used intead, don't kill off Affecks!
