What is more important to this city - more expensive flats which will inevitably lead to other newbuild flats lying empty, or a space for culturally stimulating commerce? Surely decision makers need to defend the identity of the city on this one.
Afflecks is a major tourist attraction and a Manchester landmark! Its the only reason i still go to Manchester! First Camden market now this, stop tearing down alternative choices!!!
My housemate's friend got her nose pierced in Aflleck's and the piercing gun got stuck to her nose. That never would have happened in H Samuel and that's why I love it.
Afflecks Palace is pretty much the only remaining place of interest in Manchester City Centre. Closing down places that encourage young people to be creative and proactive is a MASSIVE backwards step.
I have only visited Afflecks Palaca a couple of times and all pf those times it has been filled with customers. While the things that Afflecks Palace sells aren't for everyone, there'd be a lot of people left to find a new place to purchase their clothing and etc. from. And I'm one of them and that is why I'm signing this petition.
Compared with the superficial and generic characters of other modern 'shopping centres', Afflecks is totally unique, alternative and a total breathe of fresh air that embodies Manchester's unique identity...let's protect it!! :)
There is a Petition on the Government's website. petitions.pm.gov.uk/aflex palace/ if enough people sign this one the issue may become noticed by the government then Manchester City Council who I'm sure would not like to see the closer of such an Iconic building and the fact that it would be taking away culture in the city and independent fashion stalls. This is becaus the council recieve awards from the EU on creating better cultured cities for example Liverpool the City of Culture
Afflecks is a mancuinian landmark, there is too much redevelopment going on and we are losing our history in all these new flats. let's keep some of our past.

WTF is this the point in closing it down it a huge p[art of manchester, and manchester wont be the same without it. so many people go there it shouldnt go, its not fair, people have been going for ages and manchester has enough flat or whatever they plan on turning it into.
This is manchesters answer to Camden, why are you taking it away from us? there are loads of other places you could develop. Bruntwood have given themselves a bad name for this.
Bloody disgrace if the city loses one of the few things that distinguishes it from any other cities combination of Next/Starbucks/Gap/Carpho newarehouse bland globalised unoriginal
We really cannot let this happen. Yes, people do want to come and live in the city, and there does need to be more housing, but people wouldn't come if it wasn't foe Manchesters heart and soul and independent atmosphere - and Afflecks is a major part of that. There are many other places in our beautiful city that could be redeveloped - leave Afflecks alone!!
Afflecks is such an individual store, it would be a shame to close it down. It'll lose its character and be like every other builidng in town. Please don't close it down! They sell pretty things =]
Hands off the Afflekcs Palace! Not only it's an urban landmark for Manchester, but it's an important one for every teenager too!! Let's keep our Mancunian uniqueness!
