I could understand when they shut the coliseum as it ended up having only a handful of stalls left but afflecks is bustling with stalls and people...it would be a very sad day for manchester if it gets closed.
Manchester doesn't need more flats and that's what will become of Afflecks if this is allowed to go ahead. Places like Afflecks need to be protected to keep the city vibe that Manchester is known for alive!!
This was the first place i ever went shopping when i was young and its a landmark in unique design wear and youth affected fashion, please dont close it
This is a truly amazing shopping centre, and the only thing of it's kind left around here. I love the place, and would be truly upset to see it go. Surely something can be worked out instead!!!
i really can't begin to imagine manchester without afflecks. Not only is it an important part of the cultural heart of manchester, it holds memories for many of us. i seriously hope it never closes
I have just copied and pasted an email from Facebook group and emailed it to planning@manchester.gov.u k along with Elaine Boyes, Ken Dobson, Marc Ramsbottom, Tony Lloyd and all the North West MEP's
There's nowhere else like it, not just in Manchester but in so much of the UK. Look what happened to the Corn Exchange; we aren't going to have anyhere decent left.
Ive been going afflecks for the last 10 years! There's nowhere else left in Manchester like it.It encourages you to be yourself, create your own identity so we dont all look like carbon copies of the next person. If it closes it will probably become flats, is there not enough already, otherwise theres plenty of other empty buildings around.
Don't close Afflecks, Afflecks is basically the best place in Manchester, Afflecks goes = Tourists goes. And, I think the Majority of people would prefer Afflecks than A block of Flats. We should be porud to have afflecks cause it makes where we live Individual, Unique. The people who want to get rid of it are either Chavs, or the greedy owners who only think of themselves and money.
you just cant shut afflecks. nostalgia(and theres plenty of it)aside,i reckon it will effect the economy of local shops and will definately effect tourism. afflecks is manchesters heart.
I'll have no where to buy clothes and hang out if it closes, and its a part of manchesters culture as much as any of the new stuff that is being built around it!
Ive been goign to afflex since i was 13, im now 18 i live not far from manchester, and afflex has always had a certain pull for me and most of my friends! in honesty without afflex i doubt if id even bother with manchester anymore....
Afflecks Palace is the heart and soul of the Northern Quarter, it's such an important place for young people and the alternative scene. It's a disgrace that the stallholders and all their thousands of customers - me included - are going to be booted out just so a few more people can 'enjoy' living in an overpriced city flat.
Afflecks is a vital cog in the wheel of creative culture in Maanchester and indeed the UK and should be regarded as an institution by the people of manchester not a mere shopping centre. keep it open and keep it in business!
all good individual clothes stores should be allowed to be free! one day when i have my own, i hope that people will petition to keep it going too. the world revolves around fashion!
afflex palace was one of the things that drew me to manchester, i have been there loads of times and have shown so many people it too. itd be aweful to knock it down for yet more flats... i think it should be left alone so that other people can enjoy it steve
Is afflecks still closing?there were alot of petitions.so im not sure its closing anymore? i dont want it to close!machester will lose all individuality.
This best never happen - it has always been around and always should be. This is like closing down Camden Market. It just cannot happen. All the creative flair and interest will be lost. Somewhere like that never could be regained.
