As a project for my nursing home licensure, I am required to submit a petition on an aging issue. I would like to recommend more research to be done in the study of Alzheimer's so we may find better treatments options and/or a cure to this disease. There are too many of our elderly population currently suffering from this affliction. As the ability to diagnosis continues to grow, so will the number of persons being diagnosed. The increase in the numbers of those who will have Alzheimer's at some point in their aging years will also increase as our "Baby Boomers" continue to age. This disease is far too debilitating and many times strips our loved ones from the dignity they deserve. For these reasons, it is imperative we learn to understand and treat this disease. I am asking for 100 people to sign my petition. Together we can make a difference.
