I support this petition. The rates this company charges are horrible. How are we supposed to raise a family when jobs suck and the power and gas company suck every cent you have!!! This company needs a good compitition and I think they would go out of business!

I support this petition. I think since he is finally gone, we the people of Illinois need to re visit the Ameren Rate increase situation. No doubt in my mind that he stood up saying he would protect the people of Illinois from the outrageous rate increases, all while taking hand outs from Ameren under the table to allow for the rate increases!

Our annual income has dropped, but the cost for basic needs keep on growing. I can't list all the things we've had to stop doing to pay our Ameren bills. I miss the Clinton years! Ha! Doug, Thanks for the vent. D.

The deregulation deal with the utilities in 1997 was a ten year rate freeze in order to allow time for retail market based competition to develop. Un-bundling of utility services did not work for retail markets. The only sensible solution is to re-regulate the utilities and return to cost of service pricing until true competition is evident for the "last mile". There can not be competition when one company owns the only wire that goes from the pole to your house. Think about it! Deregulation worked for telephones because there are alternative technologies, e.g. cellular and VOIP. But there are no mature alternatives to your electric supplier. It is still a monopoly structure, and monopolies are regulated with oversight by public entities. Nothing new under the sun here.

My daughter's studio apartment was billed $250 for the last month's electric. This is five times the former amount. And I thought the old rates were bad.
