I strongly support the Opening Of Anahuacalmeca, I have 3 children in the schoool, the education, cuktura and preparation they are giving my children is remarkable. My children will have great opportunities in their futures.
To Whom It May Concern: I fully support the establishment of the Anahuacalmecac as a charter school within the LAUSD. Sincerely,Dr. Roberto R. Calderon, Associate Professor, Department of History, University of North Texas
This is precisely the kind of educational opportunity our children need to heal from the disastrous effects of colonization on our communities that reaches through 500 years.
By supporting the approval of the charter for Anahuacalmecac, we are supporting a beautiful revolution in education for our children. Community based, civic minded, critically engaged and creatively mindful. What a concept! I wish all schools headed in this direction.
It is critical that students are given a wider perspective of world events and history, as well as a greater understanding of their diversifeid native background and roots.
It is imperative that there be acknowledgment of other cultural practices in education and especially when relating to cultural backgrounds of the students who are attending. I see this school as relevant, as stimulating, and as worthy of support as any public school, and its mission is as noble as the Freedom schools on Native American Reservations.
I do not only support Anahuacalmecac, International University Preparatory High School of North America, I recommend and challenge others to replicate the idea. I continue to push and advocate for our urban teens to become familiar with college and obtain a standard goal of achieving it. However, if our children were to have a school implementing college, this would increase the numbers of those from racial ethnic backgrounds to have a higher chance of obtaining a college degree. Thus increasing the statistics of success and decreasing other significant numbers, such as drop out rates, unemployment, and others of the like.
