This is not so much a petition as a request, for angry H/Hr and R/Hr shippers to back off, enjoy the books and stop fighting.

The controversial interview between Jo Rowling and Emerson of Mugglenet and Melissa of The Leaky Couldron has sparked a lot of argument, particularly the hate campaign towards Emerson for his calling the H/Hr shippers 'delusional'. The response from the H/Hr community has been tasteless and un-necessarily rude posts against R/Hr shippers, and a request that Jo apologise for the things she said.

I would like to point out that Jo Rowling created the HP universe and were it not for her, there wouldn't BE any characters to ship and we'd all be reading Lord of the Rings, so everyone needs to stop having a go at her. She made these characters, she knows them best, and she doesn't put Hermione and Ron together just to annoy the H/Hr shippers; she knows the characters best and they develop as she chooses for them to.

This petition is mainly to stop the endless hate campaign between the two opposing ships. There is nothing wrong with a little friendly rivalry, or heated discussion about whether a certain interaction shows certain feelings.

What there should be NONE of is the eccentric and even hurtful suggestions that Emerson has highlighted on his special Wall of Shame, that were taken from a public thread on the H.M.S Harmony page. Here are some of them:..........

This last sentence is a load of utter rubbish. She wrote the books, and what is there is only what SHE PUTS there. If you want to see something that's not there then that's up to you. Also, Emerson and Melissa are not idiots. Emerson started Mugglenet by himself and its now the most popular Harry Potter site out there. I'd like to see YOU do better. Also, he is very sexy. *sends him pineapples*

Ditto on that comment. She wrote it. She rules. NONE of us are in any position to decide if the characters 'developed correctly'.

Otter Snow started a petition on this site that, I feel, is an insult to the entire Harry Potter community. Here is one of the requests made.

---We also petition Joanne Kathleen Rowling to rectify the situation in Book 7, clearing up any questions the few Ron/Hermione shippers (the truly "delusional" ones) floating around might have about the one true romantic relationship that matters in the Harry Potter books, that of Harry and Hermione. Otherwise, we have no choice but to ban Book 7 when it comes out. As the millions of Harry/Hermione shippers are the only "true" fans of the Harry Potter book series, this action will seriously affect books sales, and will undoubtedly force Bloomsbury and Scholastic to reconsider any future Harry Potter publications.

It's things like this that make me ashamed to have something in common with these people. We all love the Harry Potter universe, so why do they want to ban it just because their favourite characters didn't get together? That is the most juvenile thing I have ever seen.


I would like all H/Hr and R/Hr shippers to read this petition and sign it just to show that you: Support JK Rowling and all the work she puts in to write these brilliant books for us; Support the friendly rivalries between opposing ships; Are against the hateful and juvenile battle that some people are starting.

*A/N* I would like to point out that shipping doesn't necessarily mean you think those two characters should be together and JK should rewrite the books to make it so, it just means you like to see them together. I happen to ship Harry/Draco and I don't care that it will never happen in the real 7-book series, because that's what fanfiction and fanart is for. If JK doesn't write your ship, back off and write it yourself.
