Green Days latest album; American Idiot is disappointing. Big let down from the boys this time. I love Green Day, am a bulk fan of Green Day, and I own every album Green Day have released. Although my latest purchase, (well steal, haha sanity) makes me yakk. Not only is there new style ****, they have many accesories to enhance this new style; signing with a major record company, turning mainstream, attracting prep-punks, discarding punk rock. They won the grammy for 'Rock Album Of The Year' which makes me sad, but notice, ROCK album of the year. They were once PUNK ROCK. Whatever happend, I do not know. This sudden resurface of Green Day, emerging into mainstream, has also created alot of social havoc. Many new Green Day fans, seem to think this is Green Days first album, they think there a great new band. The reality is, they have realeased 8 albums, and have been around for 16years. It's also disappointing, when people know I like Green Day, and think I have bad taste in music, because they have only heard Green Day's new music. It annoys me when people hate Green Day, because they have made that judgement on there new, **** music, if they were to listen to there older music, I'm sure they would be presently surprised. So this petition is to make people aware, and for people to be critical of there new album, whilst still loving them.

i support this petition because i love green day but i hate this whole american idiot thing. i hope that after one and a half year of being what they have become they are pissed of their own and return to the good old green day i used to know.

There is alot of un meaning full swearing here. youre just doing it fore the sake of it. Anyway wether rock/pop/punk or pop punk. green day have very obvious influences from bands like ramones and buzzcocks. American idiot is very clever and has some unbelivably talented songwriting in it. it tells a story aswell as raising some important political issues not to mention the music is good too. Now fans seem to have deserted green day on this album. i think people do this because they feel they have sold out, they havent really theyve just become more popular, which in my opinion is a good thing. i bet you were proud to be a green day fan i still am. and i will be proud to have been one before the album that is going to put them down in history forever.

I used to love Green Day until they went mainstream. Albums like Dookie and Insomniac were great. I don't agree that they ever were actually punk rock, although you could hear the influences. Now they're just like a lot of the new bands that 'puNk r4wkerz!!! lol!' love so much. Oh, and Nina, I think I know you.

I don't see what everyone's issue is with American Idiot. It's an incredible album. The boys are just growing up that's all. This album is the most politically motivated one. Jesus of Suburbia is fucking flawless.
