we are the brookings bikers and we have been constantly kicked out of the skatepark and left with no place to ride. All we would like is a fair treatment and be allowed into the park.

The most common misconception is that BMX bikes physically damage the skatepark structures. Bikes ride on rubber tires, unlike skateboards and rollerblades, which use urethane wheels. Occasionally a rider, just like a skateboarder or rollerblader, will perform a stall or grind. Bikers grind on metal pegs; skateboarders grind on metal trucks. If the skatepark is properly designed, it will be able to withstand any kind of grind. Skateparks in England—Romford and South Sea, for instance—have allowed bikes from their opening days in the 1970s and are still in perfect operating condition. Canada and Australia boast many similar examples.

Just because the term “skatepark” doesn’t have the word “bike” in it doesn’t mean bikes don’t belong. “Skatepark” has become a generic term for ramp facility, in the same way that Xerox has become a generic term for photocopies, or Kleenex for facial tissues—it’s simple and easy to say.

im tired of gettin kicked outta 'skate' parks when there are just as many bikers and we wanna ride just as bad as them.. bikes are cooler anyways if anything the skaters should get kicked out

let the bikes in.. its segragating the sports and thats not the way its supposed to go. in sayreville nj they have this sickk concreat park and they have no porb with bikes.. give the kids somewere to go and get the sport of bmx to grow

Bikes belong everywere, especialy kickass skateparks! Oh and they need to stop calling them skate parks. Its a public place, so why are they segrecation them and not alowing bikes? I think racial segragation is similar to segregating someone from outhers just because of what they love to do!Peace!

Having very few places to ride really isn't fun at all after all bmx is a sport and needs to be supported just like any sport and a park is a much safer place to ride. People that sign this petition and petitions like this one should sign my petition.

we need places to bike we g o and bike on the streets and we get arrested.we go and bike at a skate park we get arresteed.so i think we should be able to go to a skatepark.just like skaters they skate on the street they get told to go to a skatepark and we get arrested .we cant even ride a bike on a sidewalk..

YEAH! We just went through the same battle here in Mississauga Ontario Canada. After a few years of discrimination and a lot of workto prove ourselves(seeking a bike only park, feasibility study and much more) we finally won last year!! I'm sure you guys will suceed also. Dont EVER lose faith!Just hit up city council to prove were not just a bunch of useless hippies.
