Creative suck, and have sucked major balls anytime after the SB16 PCI. If you want to avoid endless headache and terrible support, buy a Asus Xonar instead.
Creative should be ashamed of themselves. I was a big fan of creative ever since the first Audigy. But I can promise them I will no longer purchase anything from them again. Their own incompetency got them into this mess and they are doing the worst thing to clean it up.
Creative care only of moneys but if they are keeping going that way, they will loose a lots and much more. Customers to begin... Me the first i'm really disgusted.
Creative should have hired daniel K and paid him to do this work, rather than taking legal action. I have had several soundblasters, including 2 lives, now on an Audigy 2 , have a creative MP3 player as well, as an older webcam. No more creative for me, unless they make this right.
I was pretty cut up when I attempted to install my Creative WebCam that had worked perfectly in XP but no drivers were available for Vista. It's a webcam FFS! How hard could it be to write a driver for that???
Years ago I had a SB AWE 64 Pro or something like that; it was an ISA card. It was awesome, w/ 4mb of RAM on it. Sound was awesome. Since then I was a big SB fan. Now, all that is in question. Not really from recent events, but from the last several years or so. I'm just not sure what the hell they are thinking.
Shame on you. Been waiting a long time to buy a X-FI.. now I will just don't do it, crippling your product for the benefit of Windows Vista is an insult, making ppl to buy new hardware they don't need for use in an OS that is CRAP too is an insult. A real shame, CREATIVE... I have an Audigy SE and Inpires 5200 yet old, yet useful .. I think I'll hold them for a while but after that.. I just look for anywhere, It's cheaper too.
So I've had creative sound cards my whole life. From the very first creative soundblaster (including the add-on cms chips) my dad bought me. Since then on to the sb pro, the sb16, the full length awe32, the live 5.1 and the audigy and audigy 2 ZS with break out box...yeah I know, could have bought a decent car for the amount spend on audio cards. But seriously, drivers have allways been there achilles heel. This is the last straw for me...NO MORE CREATIVE in my PC's !!
One more customer Creative has permanently lost. It's a shame too. They became the industry standard because they made products that were leaps and bounds above everyone else. Now it seems they've really let their success go to their heads, and it shows. This will eventually be their downfall.
All I'e got to say on the matter is what I said over at DSLR:For what it's worth (very little): because of the actions of Creative, I put in an order for an HT Omega Striker 7.1 on Sunday. Should be here by the end of the week.I just can't get over the fact that Creative not only shat upon someone doing Creative QA and developers' jobs -- for free -- but that their own VP had the balls to ask a forum moderator to post said message and squelch the user. Who on Earth uses a WEB FORUM for such things?!? It's bizarre, on so many levels. They really should be giving that guy a job, which would put an end to the situation in a much more reasonable manner. Of course, I doubt he lives in Singapore...Creative, you're going about this situation all wrong. And I still can't believe you used a web forum to contact a user over said concerns -- nonetheless using a forum moderator to post for the VP.Only one word for all of this: unprofessional.
I've used several Creative cards from an ISA SB AWE32 back in the day all the way up to an Audigy in my personal machine as well as building several X-Fis into friends computers, but no more. What is being done is rediculous- it's ensuring customers get the worst service and support out of their products simply because of laziness and greed. I'll be using non creative based products from now on, even if it means paying twice as much. Clean up your act Creative!
Creative can go screw itself, the only reason they are stooping these unofficial drivers is because it means we can carry over our older sound cards to our new systems. They want us to go out and buy new ones just cause Vista came out. Well guess what, I will! But it sure as hell won't be one made by creative! Go to hell, you little penny-pinching cheats and say good-bye to a loyal customer of 10 years (bye).
as a former loyal creative customer I'm appalled at what your company has decided to do. Instead of hiring more tech's to fix your driver issue you've hired lawyers to sue your fans.
