In the era of bad TV, a light was briefly seen over the horizon, penetrating the darkness that has become network TV, in much the same way that darkness is broken up briefly by thousands of fireflies, heatlessly illuminating the void of night. The show, ironically, was called Firefly. It was original in concept, well written, funny, action packed, and though it was futuristic with a rustic twist, most who watched it could relate to its stories. It was for whatever reason, never given a decent chance to succeed. The network played its episodes at odd timeslots and out of order. All in all, it was mismanaged by the network. Being the network, they could admit it was their own ineptness that hurt the shows ratings, they assumed it was a lack of interest by the viewers so they shut it down. Now, somewhere between a half and a whole millions copies of the DVD boxed sets have been sold. Groups have formed under the browncoat names. People cry out for more of the show which left so many questions unanswered in its hasty demise. Even after a movie was produced to answer some of these questions, there is still so much more to learn, so much more adventure to experience. I come to you, aware of your love of reality tv, of hospital, csi and police shows and beg you to please step outside of the network tv paradigm and for once think of your viewers. Bring back Firefly, replay the whole first season including the episodes that never made it to air, and then begin anew on season 2. I pledge I will not miss a single episode. When I can not watch it live, my faithful TIVO will ensure it is not missed. I ask you, decision makers of the FOX network, give us back Firefly under the direction of Joss Whedon, and we, the viewers, will give you a legacy rivalled only in endurance by shows such as Star Trek. We will have conventions in true brown coat fashion. We will buy the merchandise year after year. We will give you a show that can truly claim a legacy of greatness. Just give us a few years of serious management and marketing. We will do our part. We ask you, please do yours.
