Dan Rather became the object of national attention and an investigation because he inadvertently used possibly forged documents in a story.
Brit Hume has deliberately misrepresented the words of Frankin Roosevelt not to report news but to take sides in a political debate. This is inexcusable.

The continued intentional distortions of the beliefs of many of our greatest Americans by the idealogue "journalists" and spin-doctors of the Neocon persuasion are an affront to our nation and history. Brit Hume's purposefully false interpretation of FDR's goal of guaranteed retirement for Americans for the benefit of Wall Street is an act against the citizens of the U.S., if not treason. Hume should not be allowed to resign and continue his distortions under a new front. He should be summarily dismissed and live in the shadow of disgrace with his brother and sister Neo-McCarthyites. These liars cannot be tolerated.
Changing what FDR said intentionally seems worst than Dan Rather been "sucked in" by fake documents. At least the story he reported was accurate unlike your story!

Fox News has gone too far this time! Mr. Hume has not only discredited himself and Fox News, but he discredits the entire national mnews media. It is too late for a retraction alone. Hume must resign and not b permitted to assume any position that involves the news.

Mr. Hume was not "taken out of context" he was not "misinterpreted" -- he lied, straight up. He is a disgrace to honest news people, and even to highly partisan FOX.
If a commentator or anchor on any other network had distorted the words of Reagan or Bush, I have no doubt that Mr. Hume would be among the first to call for that person's resignation. To distort the words of one of the country's greatest presidents as a means of promoting the goals of the Bush administration is dishonest, unprofessional, and unconscionable. Mr. Hume should resign now.
Any reporter or journalist that KNOWINGLY report information that is baseless should and must be fired from reporting any type of news! If they can demand Dan Rather's resignation, and what he reported was the TRUTH, then anyone who "willingly" lie to support a Lying President should be IMMEDIATELY INCARCERATED!
Mr. Hume is an accomplished professional and as such has shown not the first shred of decency in this matter. He has not rescinded his remarks, offered an explanation or explained in any satisfactory manner the misrepresentations of one of our Presidents. By adding my signature to this petition I call on Mr. Hume to stand up and be accountable for his mistake. We are at war and for a reporter of Mr. Hume's stature to intentionally mislead the American public regarding an extensive and expensive issue requires consequences.
Britt Hume is great as far as I'm concerned. He is and has been completely fair and on the mark in his reporting his whole career. Save the negative talk for CBS's Dan Rather and MSNBC's Keith Olberman now these guys are slanted, hidden agenda filled goofs.
Deceiving the American public during war is tantamount to TREASON. Not only should he be let go(a virtuous and honest man would resign) he should also be investigated by our new attourney general for his traitorous actions.

I would think that the few credible journalists left in the main stream media would fear and loathe Brit Hume, as well as the likes of all the other White House propagandists who are destroying the credibility of ALL journalists. When they refuse to report, expose or challenge misinformation put out by media frauds in their midst, they too become a part of the problem, and are complicit in the furthering of propaganda! Brit Hume should go, along with a host of others who have become no more than partisan hacks who do not deserve to be referred to as 'journalists'.
I grew up with the likes Walter Cronkite, Brinkley, Jim Jenson (NYC), etc.
Now, the news has become an extension of entertainment and hence untrustworththy, hidden agendas, clearly no longer something I can be proud of as an American. Nor, can we point to freedom of the press if the courts seem to limit the freedom of the press. Connecting these two, I want Brit Hume to leave the likes of a national position of mouth piece and help protect freedom of speech. Remember 1st amendment. It needs to be protected and not paid by those who can afford to buy them!
I watched Brit Hume for years on ABC. Who could have imagined that all along he was nothing but a whore for the Republican party. I feel nothing but disgust torwards him.
Fair and balanced if it is more than a slogan must at leastrequire some modicum of integrity.
