What's the difference between Brit's distorting FDR's words to support his report and Dan Rather's use of incompletely-authenticate d documents to support his?
Dan's story was true.
If Bret Hume can't stop lying for his own sake, he should at least do it for the sake of his networks sponsors - whose reputation isn't improved as a result of this latest revelation.
Hume's rearranging and distortion of FDR's words is much worse than Rather's mistake in judgement. Hume must admit his lie, apologize to the public, and resign.
Were you counting on those who don't know their history to believe this story by Hume? Typical far-right wing-nut approach! But some of us know our history well; that the Founding fathers were Deist, used Hobbes, John Locke, and Rousseau for their philosophies and that Roosevelt believed wholeheartedly in the concept and reality of Social Security!

Speaking in a dull, dry monotone (like Lurch, the Addams family butler) is neither entertaining nor convincing. Humes is a hack, with only about half the entertainment value of James Guckert. Brit should have taken an early retirement back in the days when he had a pulse.

Mr. Hume should resign due to his distortion of FDR's statements on social security. His pattern of distorting information for political purposes is not what a "news show" is supposed to offer.
I am a journalist with a mid-sized newspaper and if I did what he did on a regular basis- let alone this disgusting distortion of a great man- I'd be fired on the spot. For shame! Resign and go pretend to be an ethical journalist elsewhere!
