Most of you probably know about the Annual One Act Festival Held at Curtis each year. Well this year there is play called "For Whom the southern bell tolls?" It’s a hilarious comedy about what we think we know about people and human nature. In this play there are two homosexual characters. There is no violence or sex of any kind. The idea that there even gay is only known after they verbal tell you. Finally, what is most important is that the administration of Curtis High School is banning the homosexual content. They are trying to make it so the play will either not be performed or that the sexual identity of the homosexual characters be change to heterosexual. I’m outraged at this in so many ways. It violates constitutional rights, its discrimination, and they have no reason for such actions. Basically they are telling us GAY is wrong and that is based on religious grounds, and there is such thing as separation of church from state. Curtis Students and Alumni! If you want to join in the fight against the injustice, sign this petition below. If you have never stood up for something, or fought for your rights, now is the time. We can make a difference and change what’s going on. DIVERSITY, UNDERSTANDING, AND LOVE.

I don't even go to this school or town, but I support it because it is discriminating against freedom of expression and homosexuality; being gay this hits home, so I have to sign.

because at Curtis High School, and anywhere people have the right to express themselves in any manner that is not harmful. Saying someone gay is not. And i am ashamed of Curtis High School for doing this.

Hi Nate!!! You're doing a wonderful thing by petitioning the school's descrimination. I hope the play can keep it's originality. GOOD LUCK!

I support this in so many ways. It makes me sad that a school with such a diverse group of students and educatiors would stand up and actually be the ones to cause the descrimination of it's students,I remember being taught that diversity is something to stand up for and to appreciate. Where did I learn this you may ask " CURTIS HIGH SCHOOL."

If we don't stop this action in all cities and States, it will blossom and grow until all schools, bureaucrats, politicians, etc., are controlling our lives and stomping on our Constitution!! WHAT DID OUR FOREFATHERS FIGHT FOR? FREEDOM! WHAT HAS EVERY VETERAN FOUGHT AND DIED FOR? FREEDOM! These bureaucrats and school administrators cannot use religion to choose what freedoms they like! Americans GET ALL FREEDOMS FROM PREJUDICE, EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE TO FIGHT FOR IT EVERY DAY IN OUR OWN COUNTRY!

You have recieved a message from a user of Petition Spot: Name: Weezz Email: weezaa@comcast.net Subject: School district homosexual Discrimination! Message: I support this petition and my son. Tolerance is taught in all the U.P. schools. Read the Constitution. We do not tolerate discrimination. The Arts and performance arena is a wonderful teaching platform as well as a learning platform. We as teachers, parents and a community must stand behind our spoken words! By allowing our children to feel safe in expressing who they are is healthy and allows them to grow into healthy young adults that will contribute in making our world more positive. Mom

we should be able to do what we want to, people shouldn't be judged by sexuality.
