Whereas, the Students of the Conrad Weiser Area School District, in conjunction with the Staff, Faculty, Administration and School Board began a district wide effort to increase the recycling of materials and to reduce the volume of our waste stream, and

Whereas, this effort has resulted in a substantial decrease in the total volume of waste sent to the landfill and in the water consumed by the District, and

Whereas, the overwhelming percentage of trash that remains results from the disposal of Styrofoam from our cafeterias, and

Whereas, this flood of Polystyrene could be reduced to a trickle if reusable plates and bowls were used and purchasing decisions reviewed,

We, the Students, Staff, Faculty, Administration and Citizens of the Conrad Weiser School District petition the Conrad Weiser School Board and those responsible for the decision making process to end the practice of purchasing and using Polystyrene. Moreover, we pledge to purchase no product that is served on or in Polystyrene by the cafeteria and to encourage others to do the same.
