Chase Bank's credit card division seems to think it is above the law when collecting a debt. In my case, Chase tried to collect my outstanding bill by fraudulently going on line with EPAY to debit my personal bank account electronically. They ordered a debit of $999.00 ($1 below $1000 - strange?) and my bank put the debit through. The result: My account was overdrawn by $601.00 and overdraft charges were levied against me. When I was made aware of the overdraft, I requested a full interim statement of my checking account. There I found a $999.00 debit to my account by "Chase - Epay" and my account frozen. I nearly hit the roof. I am 73 years old and not in great health, and the shock of what had been done to me made me physically ill. I telephoned Chase Credit Card Dept. and when I told them of the debit, they DENIED any knowledge of it. I filed a formal dispute form with my bank (SunTrust) in which I categorically denied ever have given Chase Bank. The bank's fraud dept. dug into the matter, and lo and behold when they got caught by my bank's investigation, Chase returned the money which they had claimed they knew nothing about! What they did was fraud and outright theft by obtaining money from my bank by illegal means. I am going to sue.

If you have any dealings with Chase Bank or its credit cards, I highly recommend that you monitor your account carefully. Chase has proven beyond a doubt to me that it feels that it is big enough to ignore legality when dealing with consumers. Please sign this petition and forward this email to as many people as possible. It's past due time to fight back against unsrupulous practices of big banks and credit card companies.
