With the upcoming 20th anniversary of the popular horror movie Child's Play next year, Chucky fans from all across the globe wonder what will happen when the series turns twenty. Many fans including myself has discussed the topic, "What if Don Mancini releases a special extended anniversary edition of the original movie?" When you think about it, it really makes a lot of sense. The 1999 DVD release (which is the only dvd version) just includes the movie in widescreen format and the original theatrical trailer and that's it. As a fan of the series that I am, I would absolutley love to see a special anniversary edition DVD release of this film. For example, it could be a 2-DISC special edition with both full screen and widescreen versions, deleted and extended scenes, an audio commentary, a "making of" featurette, interviews, TV spots, etc. I know that a special release like this could happen, I mean if all of the other mainstream horror movies can get thier special editions, than why can't Child's Play? Also the idea of releasing a special edition of the second film would be very awesome as well, sense it has been known as the most popular of the three Child's Play films. But all in all this film seriously doesn't deserve not to get a special DVD release, especially for its 20th anniversary.
