Not only is the death penalty the most grotesque example of injustice and inhumanity in our contemporary society, the criminal (in)justice system is so extremely and obviously racist that it is beyond the pale of reasonable behavoir that anyone can even consider going ahead with this barbaric act of the cold blooded state sanctioned murder of people of color. We must end the genocide against native americans and african americans. We must end the death penalty.
I support this petition. It is brutal and unacceptable for the state to kill its citizens. In addition, to kill the old and feeble is simply disgusting. This is not the example a government should set for society.
The death penalty reflects poorly on our society. It fails to improve the welfare of anyone and represents a mocker of a criminal "justice" system. Put an end to this and all other executions in your state by supporting moratorium now and abolish next!
I support this petition. Let's support the passage of AB 1121 and put a moratorium on all executions in CA until the bi-partisan commission set up to review all death penalty cases returns with its findings. I can't believe we're killing people before then! But then, it is an election year.
I support this petition. The death penalty is racist, and in this case Clarence's scheduled execution represents just the latest stage in the ongoing genocide of the American Indians. Let's organize to save Clarence and all others on death row!
I support this petition. The death penalty is adminstered with many flaws and without failsafes in place. While I do not approve of the death penalty under any circumstances, at the very least it should not be carried out until far reaching changes are made to ensure fairness and equality for all. I urge you to err on the side of humanity and justice, and spare this life.
How barbaric and low has our country become? We're now executing an old, nearly blind, and disabled man. What's next, infants? Seriously California, do you have no decency? I demand you stop this, and ALL, executions!
The fact that at 75 years of age, the state thinks Clarence Ray Allen is such a threat that he needs to die, is proof, not of the barbarity of humanity, but the barbarity of the elite that run this country.
A man kills one man with a gun in LA, he's a murderer, a man kills over 100,000 people with cluster bombs, white phosphorous, and napalm...he's called President.
Abolition Now! Prosecute the real criminals.
Capital punishment is not about justice, it is about control: state control over life and death. That is why Allen was revived in order to kill him. Giving politicians this degree of control is horrific and intolerable.
The death penalty is cruel and inhumane. Our "justice" system is racist, discriminatory and too dependant on having money to pay for a good defense. It is not reliable enough to determine life or death.
It is absolutely appalling that CA want to rush ahead into another state sanctioned lynching after the murder Stanley "Tookie" Williams. That case alone should be enough to halt the death penalty, let alone the fact that a full exploration into the errors of the death penalty is now in progress.
No more executions.
Not now.
Now ever.
I support this petition.
The state's drive to execute Clarence Ray Allen--and the first signatory of this petition--demonstrate the barbarism of our criminal justice system and, by extension, our society. Reviving a 75-year-old man who has died a natural death, so that he might be killed with intention, is just sick.
While the politicians and prosecutors pretend that the death penalty is about justice, the remarks of the first person to comment on this petition reveal what it is really all about—racism and blood lust. How disgusting that carefully and methodically the State of California is preparing to kill a 75-year-old, disabled man.
