The Deaf deserve the right to enjoy entertainment as well as the hearing. Captioning has made that possible. Please do not take this away for the Deaf. To hear their laughter and see their enjoyment is very special. I may be hearing but I want this for them too so we can enjoy movies together. Thank you!! Melody Dugan

when i was a child, i always bugged my family with questions about the shows or movies we watched.
it was so frustating not being able to understand why my family laughed and i dont. its not fair when my family understood what the story was about and say "ah, that explains it!" and i am thinking "what happened?"
when we finally got c.c on our tv, i was thrilled and never bothered my family anymore becuz i UNDERSTOOD why they laughed, what the story was about.
its very important to keep c.c on. what happens if YOU become deaf? how will u enjoy watching movies???
I am annoyed by captions when I don't want them, but the technology to switch captioning on and off on DVDs is, I believe, fairly inexpensive now. If not, mass production will drop the cost.

The deaf need CC to be able to understand all things said on TV and in Movies. It would be ridiculous to take this away from them! CC should be standard on ALL programs and DVD's. I am not deaf but I support having Closed Captioning for the deaf.
I like to have Close caption on DVD, let deaf people enjoy to watch the movie with CC. help them to understand the word.

It is very important and would do greatly for all of us to have CC as Educations to keep on reading on tv. Also if anyone not want CC they can turn it off by using remote and its very reliable for many deaf and other like Foreign languages too. Please keep this CC on and it is very fair to all of us to have it since Hearing people can hear everthing while Deaf don't so think about it. As we all of us must have closed captioning for lifetime on the tv and the dvd must have closed captioning too. there is so many of young children to senior citzen need to read and understands that is very important for all american and foreign countries.
I total agreed with support other deaf people. all the movies, shows, and any kind of on tv shows like news or whatever must have closed captioned. Because not fair with hearing people listen what about deaf who cant read lip or cant read lip while the movies show when moved around head stupid should be on closedcaptioned all shows. why complain about "money" they forgot us to spend alot of money to have tty pager slide messager tty cost phone bills so high than normal hearing speak on phone. come on they forgot how hard deaf people try. so i agreed support them.

We are completely at a loss without captioning on DVD movies. We felt that we are deeply offended compared to most video movies (newest, current, and old movies).
We expected DVD to come with captioned as most currently technolgy for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Sigh!

Today's movies should be Closed Captioned on DVDs as the previous VHS movies. I love watching movies, but do not appreciate having to use rear view mirror in theatres and prefer to watch moveis from the comfort of my home.

Doesn't make sense to have them not to have DVD captioned anymore. We always buy those dvds and we expect it to be CC. If they eliminate CC then you should eliminate the sound from dvd too. Makes it fair to the hearing and theyll understand how we all deafies feel. Please keep CC..we depend on it.
Please keep on showing CC on DVDs. What if they took away voice and leave you with nothing to hear . . . you wouldn't want that to happen, would you? C'mon, let's keep CC as it is virtually important to us deaf people.

I am hard-of-hearing and being able to read what is going in during a movie is alot better than not watching the movie at all because you don't understand what a person is saying. Add Closed-Captioning to all DVDs to make life more enjoyable for people like me.
I am deaf and I like being able to read what the actors are saying when watching a movie so I don't miss out on what is going on. Closed Captioning on all DVDs would help benefit all those who are hard-of-hearing and deaf to enjoy movies and life more freely.

I would appreciate it if all companies should provide closed captions on DVDs, and transfer VHS to DVD for personal favorite shows. i.e. Using a video converter on your computer to transfer a VHS tape to DVD does not work for captions. Also, the captions should be provided in education for us to watch such as learning how to use softwares (Adobe & Macromedia programs), nature, and learning stuff on DVDs from a library.
As a Sign Language Interpreter, I can't emphasize enough the importance of Closed Captioning for the Deaf. But I also want to point out that Captioning is also important to others too. I am a hearing person with a some neural damage that makes it hard for me to always understand what is being said. I am an avid TV & movie fan who depends on the Closed Captions for clarification.
