oh closed captioned on vhs and dvd all movies old and news .I did enjoyed many rent movies with CC many time but some dvd do not have CC I want see it so badly! you know I alway feeling emotion as cry, laugh ,sad at watch movies real worthy for me .CC must be important to deaf community who love enjoy movies!
many consumers prefer cc over subtitles where they provide background noises cues. subtitles only provides text. we want ot read what hearing people hears.
There are milions of us - deaf and hard of hearing. Also the number of hard of hearing people is increasing every year - young and old due to loud music and noise pollution.
Think of the revenue the millions can bring.
Why isolate us? Every thing is educational. Anything that people who can hear we should be able to have access.
It can be frustrating when I rent or buy dvd, and finding it does not have CC...although about 75% do provide cc, but NOT all, it should be mandatory for ALL movies made, to include cc...otherwise, remove sound and see if hearing people complain?? Yeah, I can finally hear some LOUD roar from the hearing world when there's no sound on every movies/tv, esp LIVE NEWS!! Thanks for hearing us out and hopefully, we get our rights very SOON!
As a deaf who enjoy movies, I noticed that quite a lot of DVDs are not closed captioned. That is a big disappointment. I urge that DVDS be closed captioned.
Captioning are more clear and easier to read than subtitles on DVDs. Not all DVDs are subtitled anyhow...therefore closed captioning seems more realistic to keep...Additionally, not all hearing people like to view subtitles or captions on the DVDs so maintaining the option for closed captions is crucial for them as well. They can shut the captions off when deaf people are not present. Additionally, closed captions are great for children, hearing or deaf, because they can learn early reading skills since closed captions are easier to read than subtitles.
I am suggesting to you that it is required by the ADA laaws taht all movies and such to be Closed Captions. I understand that many of the movies producers makes such big profits and such and dont they even realized that people who are hearing impaired wanted to buy or rent their movies and make profits then they will need to get it closed capitons for our understanding. We are humans also and jsut like all other people but jsut cant hear but we have rights just like all other people so please considered that all movies be closed captions from now on. Thanks.
After WWII, many babies were produced. Now many of those babies are into the retiring age and will need hearing support of all kind. We will be hearing from them, loud and clear of their need. So be proactive and get all visual resouces in captions.
I really want to have a Closed Captioned all show. from old show to future show help all deaf to understand what they talk about.plus help them understand english grammar...
It is very important to all of us disabilities about on CC. which we can enjoy to understand what are saying on the general t.v., movies and etc. Addition, it's not fair to the hearing people are enjoying to watch the t.v., movies and etc.
Absolutely cc must be stay on or else I couldn't even survive to watch movie without cc. I wish the best of luck to you all hope cc will be stay on frover
Sometime I disappointment that DVD do provide subtitle but only spanish or french not for Hearing Impaired so I would rather CC on all DVD save my gas and time for go back to Family Video and replace DVD and will never have chance to watch that excellent movie. :-(
We do like to enjoy any opened captioned movie or DVD just like a normal hearing persons and be well-educated as some movies and DVD will help us toestablish a moral value and preventation that may endanger us. More over, it is really confused that inside the movie open-captioned (OC) mean subtitle on the screen and closed captioned means rear mirror with 8 pt font printing and the flexible pipe is loose (worst of all). It needs to re-clarify the defintion of those. Substitled movie means open-captioned with foreign language to please both deaf and hearing attendentants. Wording does matter to lessen misnderstanding.
I would like to echo the excellent points made by another respondant: "Subtitle doesn't show background sounds! It even won't name the person who is talking, when that person is not in picture. Subtitle is not for hearing impaired. Subtitle is for hearing people who rely on sounds or person's voice. Subtitle also hard to read without black in background."
I am fed up to the teeth of deaf/HOH needs being ignored. How about selling/renting movies without a sound track? What uproar that would cause! Further, I do not speak 'gibberish' and I don't know of anyone else over the age of two that does. I have rented many videos that are listed as 'cc' where the captioning is simply unintelligible. It's past time to provide the deaf/HOH population with fair and equal access!
Subtitle doesn't show background sounds! It even won't name the person who is talking, when that person is not in picture. Subtitle is not for hearing impaired. Subtitle is for hearing people who rely on sounds or person's voice. Subtitle also hard to read without black in background. We need closed captioned on DVD movies! Or stuck with old technology VHS!
I have been dealing with this issue for YEARS. I will not rent DVDs that are not closed captioned and will complain if they say they are when they are not (has happened many, many times).
Please stay the closed captions!!! It is very important to deaf people understands what they (tv) said . Keep on the cc!!! we need DVD, Viedo movies and Tv show. and need to heard the NEWS on the TV!!!! also we need to know what they are news LAWS in futures!! Thanks !! Karen Powers
THEY MAKE MILLION OF DALLORS TO MAKE MOVIES. DONT TELL ME THEY CANT AFFORD 200 DALLORS TO PUT CLOSE CAPTION ON DVD MOVIES OR DVD MUSIC.. THAT DONT HURT TO SPEND 200 DALLORS ON THAT C C FOR HEARING IMPAIR. IT IMPORTANT FOR US AND KIDS WHO IS DEAF THAT NEED C.C. AND TO LEARN TO READ GOOD FOR EDUCATION ENGLISH IMPROVEMENT. THANK U
Closed captioning (CC) should be available on all movies (at theatres, DVD, VHS, etc.), there are millions of people out there who strongly depend on CC, someday, in our senior years, we or even you . . . might be a part of that population. Then, how would you feel? If you couldn't understand what was being said?!
Please don't closed Captioned on DVD Movies and we need it so badly and not fair for the deaf people can't hear the DVD movies and I think it is great for still on Captioned on DVD Movies.
Thank you
Hey we needs keep closed captioned on dvd and vhs movies also tv Reasons deaf people and oldest people enjoying to read CC i tell oldest people are not able to hear at all if they cant keep CC then i wouldnt watch them at all
Thanks
everyone enjoys watching a movie, deaf and hearing alike. By putting captions on every dvd movie you are giving the deaf community the chance to be included, they are able to enjoy a movie just like everyone else.
Keep the CC!!! It is for Deaf and Hard of Hearing's community.. Also it is for Senior Citizens who lost thier hearing loss.. so have a chance to read the CC... smiles...Thanks
please keep the C.C. on! think the c.c. is only for the DEAF community? it's also for the other community too, like the hearing with learning disabilty, and others who just cannot read! kudos to the DEAF community keep on the fight for our rights, never never say die! smilez
