Although I have no real hearing problems, I see the need of having closed caption. Movies that are not CC are, in my opinion, an act of discrimination. Think how hard it is for a deaf person to relate with those who have seen the and heard a movie and are discussing it. Deaf customers have the right to watch the same movies as the hearing. Please make all DVD, VHS, etc. CC so they will no longer be discriminated against.
Almost all DVD are captioned, but for the bonus features, most of the time, they don't have captions except for New Line Cinema. I give my deep respect to New Line Cinema because they provide CC almost on everything than all companies all together. Warner Brothers is the worst in my humble opinion. I hope this help to get their attentions to improve the access for the Deaf people.
Disabled but not unable: People with disabilities may be different but they have the same needs as everyone else. Given a helping hand, they can live independently and contribute to society. By having the Closed Captioned on television, DVD, etc. is the best benefit in our disabled lives.
Loves towatch the movies and they does mold our life style. With CC, it helps us maintaining our reading level up and up. Without CC, what become of us? Back to Stone Age?
I feel that every Deaf or hard of hearing person deserves to hear the same as hearing people, and cc is the way for them to stay informed and know what is being said on movies, dvd, news etc... It not only benefits Deaf individuals, but also hearing people. All Children (deaf or hearing) who watch t.v with cc improve their reading skills, so let's make this a law!!!
Captioning is very important for me no matter what or where I am.
I rent DVD s and one of the things
I look for is to make sure it is captioned.
If it's not captioned I will NOT watch or rent it.

I don't understand why closed captions are not available on DVD movies. Virtually all movies should be captioned just because all US people must have the equality in access to anything.
Yes, we demand to have CC on DVD, on TV, on VHS and on everything else. We, Deaf people, were born on this Earth for a reason or for a purpose. So give us Closed Captions cuz they are reason for us, Deaf people!
We are persons, but hearing impaired, have the sense to read it and

Captioning assures people that Deaf and Hard of hearing can enjoy a movie the same as any hearing person. Deaf and Hard of hearing do not have the option to hear. Since many hearing people listen to loud music and are subsequently losing their hearing...this will benefit those who do not need this service now, but might need this service later. Please do this for the benefit of all people. It is difficult to want to watch a DVD, but can't just because understand is either to difficult or impossible. I have bought many DVDs by mistake, and the store will not take them back, after they are opened. I just end up giving the movies away. Please caption all media, so that all may benefit.

I and many other folks (deaf and hearing alike) enjoy watching build-in closed captioning films and videos and closed captions TV programs for many years.
We, as a member of this freedom and free speech society, should not to leave our people and future generations behind in language developments and achievements. If we don’t benefit from it then majority of those who can't hear TV, video and DVD would not benefit from learning and mastering English language as well as the current generation of hearing impaired people did.
I strongly urge you to require all forms of media broadcasts of any forms, thru wires and wireless, must be closed captions exactly what is being said on the media itself. What you hear is exactly what we expect to see on TV, video tapes, DVD or any forms of media outlet.

It is really important for deaf/ hard of hearing kids learn to read the words on caption on any dvd movies. We feel that it should stay on forever because it is not always for the deaf/hard of hearing community but also for eldery who lose their hearing too.

Other captioned types such as opened captioned, subtitles. Personally I favor for the subtitles because it works on pc dvd players while closed captioned doesn't. Just give you some of perspective to think over and there are several ways to have dvd captioned and/or subtitle, therefore its no excuse for dvd industry not have it included.
As a parent of a Deaf Daughter I need to expreww that without the open caption at the theatres I can no enjoy a movie without having to interpret the movie. I have attended the open caption theatres and I can see how much the Deaf apppreciate this. If it bothers the hearing they are being ignorant, because this can be utilized for the hard of hearing older people as well.
Today is 2005...so it is time to modernize the accessibility to technology of all kinds especially DVDs. It has been a hell to go through the fuss to get captions from DVDs. I want to relax and watch a DVD movie with captions ready to show instead of having me go through the hassle to find the menu for closed captions. I just want open captions ready for all of us..
Closed caption can be also useful for others such as foregin language, people with hearing loss besides just for deaf people only. They also can benefit this along with us who rely alot on closed caption.
PLEASE put closed captioned in the DVD movies or you'll lose 10 percent of U.S. population because we wouldn't be able to hear what's going on in the DVD movie.

We,in the deaf community of USA would need to keep the closed captioned going on all VHS,DVD, ALL PROGRAMS ON TV to be continued to provide those captions , it does help us to improvise our grammar the better and also learn new words. we can understand what is all about in those shows of any kind, without C.C we would be at loss not knowing the whole thing in those movies. It is absoultely unfair to us hearing impaired people to live without the closed captions , I am begging you people to have a second thoughts to please keep the closed captioned going for our sake, it is a must for me to have the closed captioned on dvd, vhs and tv programs. thanks !!
