I AM 14 YEARS OLD, AND I AM HARD OF HEARING. EVER SINCE I WAS GROWING UP, OPEN CAPTIONS ARE A HUGE MUST FOR ME. THERE WERE SOME DVDS THAT HAD SUBTITLES BUT NO CAPTIONS AND THE SUBTITLES WERE EITHER SPANISH OR FRENCH. I DEPEND ON CAPTIONS TO READ AND LEARN NEW WORDS. LET ME ASK U THIS... U WANT KIDS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE. KEEP THE CAPTIONS ON IN ORDER FOR THEM TO GAIN KNOWLEDGE OF WORDS AND ENABLE THEM TO BE SUCCESSFUL ADULTS IN THE FUTURE THANK YOU!
With so much technology, there is no excuse or reason to avoid captioning movies. There is no caption in the movie theaters. At list make them accessible on DVDs for home viewing. It's required for TV; it should be required for all DVDs!
ADA says MUST have CC in the movies and tv programs. Not fair that hearing people enjoy hearing without CC. I don't want to see deaf people being suffered without CC. I really want deaf people to enjoy watching with CC themselve. Also, CC is important to read english for education. I guess that movie producers don't understand about CC and education. NEVER STOP CC... MUST KEEP CC FOREVER!!
We need a Closed Caption. It is very important for deaf people to read and understand what is going on. And also need improve read english to help understand too. I support all of those different people comments lists.
Yeah! Just a few days ago I decided to rent a particular film from U.K. from Blockbuster online. To my shock, there wasn't even closed caption but there was a subtitle but it's in Spanish!!!!! UGH!
I am not even hearing impaired and I think this idea of getting rid of closed caption on DVD is absurd. I have a best friend who is hearing impaired and he depends heavily on CC to understand the contents of a movie or TV show. It seems that in the year 2005, we should be doing more to adapt our current technology to the meet the needs of the special population, not less.
If this is difficult to put closed caption on all videos and devices then there will be a higher motion in protest. Also, There should be a Disablitiy ACT or LAW saying that is required. Closed caption is very important to me. When Closed Caption built in TV, it made me the happiest person int he world. That is all I need to make me happy. Gave me the expression of understanding people are saying on TV. If you have a problem how would you support yourself? GOOD POINT huh.....

We have seen many African-American need to have closed captioned required. Although all deaf people of society face obstacles in communicating because of their handicaps, members of minority groups who are deaf often face even more severe obstacles because of the problems minorities encounter: a high rate of poverty and a higher drop out rate at school. Such problems are often exacerbated by deafness. Deaf people are isolated in society, in school, and in the workplace. Do not delete closed-captioned on DVD Movies and open closed etc...

Please provide us closed captioned for the deaf and hard of hearing so we can enjoy it as much as the hearing. My 98 year old grandpa is now deaf and loves CC.
I noticed that most Special Features on the menu in most DVDs such as deleted scenes, director's commentary, or behind the scenes are not closed captioned. The Special Features SHOULD be closed captioned too!

Without tv caption, all deaf people will not understand any of the movies or tv.itis not fair for all hearing people understood what they are talking about in movies and tv shows.
Dont take away closed-captioned from us. As a parent, my hearing/deaf sons have greatly benefited from reading closed captions. They love to read books. We all re so depending on CC!! And also for a movie theatre, put CC on it also!

All right let me make an example I have noticed most foreign movies do have subtitle for movies or dvd or vhs they would have in there but for deaf and hard of hearing why make the fuss over the closed captioned for the deaf and hearing imparied should be treat same way come on foreign movies no body is complaining abt that subtitles Is it fair to us no should have CC on everything just like forgein movies and they do can afford to print that subtitle for foreign movie Huh
EVERYONE should have the ability to access ell media types. As a homeschooling parent, I know that my hearing children have greatly benefited from reading closed captions. Many of my foreign-born friends improve their English skills by reading the captions. Closed captioning can greatly widen the market for producers. A WIN-WIN situation for all!
Example: Deaf people use sign language Hearing people watch DVDs from Deaf Culture, Film,Video/TV of the Deaf as we produce that Hearing viewers complained that they did not understand we exchange our caption cloased/subtitles/voices over for hearing or foreign people please Equal all of the people in world for languages as we and people respect to each other we share to read captions as hearing or foreign viewers read
This would also help many elderly as they get older and can't hear, also many immigrants coming in trying to learn Enlish could benefit from CC on DVD as well on any movie for that matter. It would help everybody all people.

It is important to have CC for all purpose to learn English language and have an equal access when hearing people are listening through the television and deaf and hard of hearing people read the closed captioned from television. Not only for us, too.. This will give benefit to other people who learn English language such as Hispanic and other foreign people, too.
WE do have Deaf rights to have all the movies to have closed captioned, we d want to have what hearing have. like the races people have what they have... cripple can have what we have. So god bless u all, Love in christ, Bobby
"Equal Access" for all of us, the deaf and hard of hearing, please!! We "HEAR" with our eyes so Closed Captioned is a MUST for all of us, especially for the children, to enjoy any shows just like everyone else, who can Hear!! Closed Captioned is a "LIFETIME EDUCATION" tool for all of us, even for the hearing and minorities, as well as part of our language development! President Bush believes in "No Child Left Behind" so therefore. "No Deaf/Hard of Hearing Individual Left Behind" without Closed Captioned! No arguments! :)
Hey alllll deaf i am agree with you allll deaf.. If they removed cloesd caption dvd and tv and movie and etc... then same thing remove hear voice equal on tv and dvd and moive and etc.. Deaf have right to do!!! I am very 100% support all deaf have right deaf people to stay keep closed caption forever .. We(deaf people) have right .. What for GOD make me deaf person i have to right keep Closed Caption forever period...
CC is very important for me to read and also future of deaf kids needs to read CC and it important to them and every one in world! and also Movie should be having CC right now!
CC is not only used by deaf community, but they are also used from minority groups who reads the captions to learn English in our country. CC also improve reading skills for children and adults. There are many positive benefits for having CC.
