It is definitely time for change too many of gods beautiful creatures are being destroyed. Let me know if there are any training courses for trainers so that there will be no excuses for it not going ahead.

I definitely see the need for this centre. As a dog lover, it is heartbreaking not to be able2take care of every stray&seeing endless homeless dogs being rejected and destroyed. It doesnt need to be this way and hopefully we can help to change this!
Tara and Lisa (DTI) would have a very positive effect on Dog ownership in an active way, in presentation of facts along with follow-up home visits as an option.Their expertise is astounding and patience endless. With the statistics as high as they are against animal welfare/welbeing, we need more people like DTI who can promote excellent standards of ownership of dogs and promote pride in their welbeing.
I am for a dog training centre in Dublin so as dogs from a young age can be trained therefore preventing any unnecessary behaviour problem later in life
This is a wonderful idea. I agree there is not nearly enough provision made by the powers that be in Ireland in respect of animals. To my mind it is even more important to train the humans, as if this can be achieved the rest will follow!!!
I totally support this idea. Dogs and other animals share the planet with us and in my opinion, should be given every chance to live as respected and welcome part of our society. I have known many that have been rejected and put to sleep due to behavioural issues that could, with training, have been resolved.
I definitely agree with this petition. We need to educate the public so we can curb the problem of dogs being surrendered or ending up in the pound because of problems we as a community can solve.
I have done DTI classes with my dogs and can honestly say they have made 100% inprovement to me and my dogs. I think basic training should be easily available to all and I have no doubt that a few hours spent learning the basics would help reduce the numbers of unwanted dogs . The advice people would receive at such a centre would encourage good dog ownership and would definetly help hammer the " Spay and Neuter " policies home to Irish People.
Having two dogs who are from rescue centres I have realised the importance of good training not just for my girls but for me and my partner more importantly and people should be able to continue being responsible dog owners by having a training facility near by.
To the best of my knowledge,a facility exists in Tymon Park which enjoys many of the elements proposed in this petition and, presumably, operates at the pleasure of South Dublin CC.Why not in Fingal?
it is badly needed,
it would help a lot of people, who's dog needs training,
maybe people would keep there dogs ,if they could under stand there dog better.
This is what we have been needing for many years, a training centre for responsible dog ownership. We should give each dog a possibility to live a full life. We are saddened by how many are destroyed (we own three ourselves). Thank you for your work. And yes, you have our support.
The main reason dogs end up in pounds is due to behaviour problems that could easily be overcome through proper training. Such a centre would be a brilliant step forward for the welfare of Ireland dogs
Ireland is behind the times when it comes to Dog care. How many more have to be killed because of inadequate training facilities and owner education. This is a necessary step for West Dublin and indeed for Ireland. Organisations such as DTI play an important role. We should all get behind this, whether you have a dog or not.
Too many dogs are abandoned or impounded due to behaviour issues that are often easily resolved with clicker and disc training or proper, positive encouragement of the dog. A centre of this nature would reduce the massive amounts of stray and surrendered dogs in ireland.
A very worthwhile petition. Dogs play a very important role in our society to the young, old etc. serving them with faithful companionship! all dogs deserve a second chance to become valued and trusted members of our society!
This is an excellent idea. Ireland in general should do much more for the dog population. This can only do more for unwanted and stray dogs, and if this means saving their life too than it can only be a good thing.
Good luck!!
I have a small West Highland Terrior, and after training she has turned in to a well behaved member of my family. I believe all dogs should received some training as a puppy.
