The Town of Poughkeepsie North Little League’s (TOPNLL) Mission Statement is to provide a positive, quality Little League baseball experience for the youth in the Town of Poughkeepsie that instills values of teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play through practices that develop and improve fundamental skills, and exciting games and tournaments that provide a lifetime of memories and a love of the game of baseball. A current goal for the TOPNLL is to increase enrollment in its league, in particular through the retention of players age 11 and 12. One strategy toward achieving this goal is to continue to improve the facilities at Crestwood Park. The project is to install lights at Crestwood Park to allow for increased use of the facility. The plan is to install the lights so that they can be used during the Spring
2010 season.

The TOPNLL has an excellent working relationship with the Town of Poughkeepsie recreation department. Although the town does not have a central recreational facility, it does have several smaller parks located throughout the town. The TOPNLL uses baseball fields located at the Crestwood, Overrocker, Fairview, Rochdale, Jackson Road and Townsend parks. The main field for Little League is located at Crestwood. Crestwood was built in 2001, and since that time, a snack bar was added with storage for the league’s equipment. Last year a new restroom facility was added and this year a project is underway to improve the drainage at the field and to plant grass in the infield. The addition of lighting at the field has long been envisioned as the next step to continue to improve the facility.

The funding for this project will come from a combination of private contributions and grants. Public funds will not be used for construction. The TOPNLL is asking for the support and endorsement of this project from the members of the Town Board.
