It is reported that Tom Cruise is to play Count Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg, the leader of the plot to assassinate Hitler on July 20th, 1944, in a new film "Operation Valkyrie."

Artistic or personal considerations aside, the casting of Cruise is an insult to the memory of this brave man. As the most prominent spokesperson for Scientology, Cruise is himself an advocate for a totalitarian organization that Germany does not recognize as a religion. Scientology has even gone so far as to compare this status to that of Jews under the Third Reich. And Cruise has repeatedly shown that he cannot separate his film work from his promotion of Scientology - from on-set ministers and tents to discussing it during promotional junkets. Stauffenberg gave his life trying to stop a pitiless totalitarian madman - Cruise does all he can to promote one.

We, the undersigned, object strongly to the casting of Tom Cruise in this role, and urge the directors, producers and executive producers to reconsider. If the film does proceed with Cruise, we then vow to boycott it.

You know what the world has come to? It's just very (very) sad that people actually make petitions for these things. First a Harry Potter petition now this?! Yeah, we know there's a lot of Tom Cruise haters but if you actually think you can stop him with 100 or so signatures, you are a complete idiot. On the other hand, I will most definately enjoy this movie!

I will NEVER see ANY movie with Tom Cruise in it. In my opinion he's a dangerous individual in need of a good psychiatric evaluation. He's trying to convert the world to this evil Cult of Horrors: Scientology.BOYCOTT CRUISE!https://www.scient ologykills.com

I'm a Scientologist and I'll tell you that this crazy story about Xenu is total crap. Some people in the press keep saying that this Xenu story is what Scientologists believe. This is such garbage and it's a story repeated over and over and is intended to keep people from looking into what Scientology actually is. So why would some in the media intentionally try and keep people away from Scientology you ask? Because most media is well paid by the pharmaceutical industry. They see Scientology as a threat to their profits because it is. Scientology has many, many answers that work and are practical. Let's look at 1 example of how the psychiatric drugging industry is hurt by Scientology technology... Let's assume you know someone who has been depressed for several months or even years. Did you know that with Scientology you can literally snap him out of his dark days and make him feel happy again, sometimes in less than five minutes. How could this be? Because Scientology helps and works like nothing else before it. There is no need to be on a psychiatric drug everyday for the rest of your life. This is just one of thousands of solutions Scientology has and it would take literally books to tell you all it has to offer and can do. Give a Scientologist just a few minutes of your time and you'll quickly realize what a sham psychiatry and the psychiatric drugging business is. It's OK to be skeptical about Scientology, but don't assume that what you've been told about it is actually true. Just ask yourself would all these celebrities be involved in it if didn’t help them and others tremendously?/WWW.WHATISS CIENTOLOGY.ORG

I can not even imagine what horrible accent Cruise will come up. This is a travesty to the memory of Stauffenberg and to his family.

I'm very sad about the fact that Tom should play this charakter. This does not fit and I hope that it will come not so far. Tom isn't dignified for this role!

No, no,no, no, NOT Tom Cruise!! And Bryan Singer deserves a bitchslap for even agreeing to cast T.C. It's obvious that neither party has bothered to research Stauffenberg's story at all. Anyone who would cast a five foot seven shrimpy with a double chin as the lean six foot three handsome Stauffenberg should give up their day job.

Tom Cruise is a mad man trying to buy and bully respect and admiration for himself and his beliefs. Sound like someone else? It is a sad day indeed when he is allowed to play a man who is admired for his role in the elimination of another mad man. It is total disrespect to Stauffenberg and his family. I will not see any movie Cruise is in. Putting more money in his pockets is like bullets in a gun, one day it/ he will go off.

The memory of von Stauffenberg should not be sullied by this man's involvement. Please please do reconsider.

I always heard money can buy anything, but in Cruise's case he may of ripped of Thomas' role but he sold his soul... Well maybe not only a souless asshole would do this to a fellow human being. Thomas Kretschmann is the better man and has more soul than Cruise could ever buy.
