I am opposed to both Scientology and Cruise as an actor. Although worse choices do come to mind for this part, I guess they could have chosen Mel Gibson(og man that`s terrible)
I think it's terribel for Tom Cruise to steal this role away from Thomas Kretschmann 2 days before Thomas was to sign the contract. I've become a Kretschmann fan through a friend, and I've learned quite a bit about him as a person and actor. He deserves this role. I think he would be 10x better that Cruise in this role - that's for sure.

I would have actually watched this film if Thomas Kretchsman had the lead but now that Tom Cruise took over there is no way I will waste my time or money watching on it. Tom Cruise is a puppet of COS and is trying to convert Germany with this film.

Thank God for this petition! I love Claus Stauffenberg and have read a lot about him. It's a slap in the face to have Cruise play him. And he's too short - Stauffie was six foot three! How about Jim Caveizel in the role? They look alike and are about the same height - and of course JIm is a better actor who has credilibity playing martyrs.
Tom Cruise should only play movies without too much artfully ambitions. He is a movie star not an actor and apparently overestimates his own abilities.
What's also odd is: the film's director, Bryan Singer, is an openly gay man. Doesn't he realize his prospective leading actor is chief spokesperson for an evil cult that frowns on homosexuality? Or does the money coat that issue as well?

This movie needs to be made but without the Church of Scientology or its tiny Messiah. I won't pay to see this and I certainly won't put any more money in the CO$'s coffers, or in Tiny Tom's bank account.
As a Jew with family members who perished in the Third Reich, I must say that this subject matter deserves far, far better than that self-promoting "little dictator" cast in the lead. Not only is it a horrific irony that the "Jesus" of an evil, deadly, totalitarian organization would be cast to play such a hero, but based on his previous behavior, Cruise will certainly use this film as a vehicle to promote his money-grubbing "religion" and to vilify psychiatry and as a creation and tool of the Nazi regime (which is what it teaches). Von Stauffenberg's *own family* is outraged by this casting, and so should everyone with a shred of decency.

The movie sounds like a great idea, but not with Tom Cruise in it. Not only doesn't he have the acting ability to pull it off, he probably has a hidden agenda to promote his cult.
Another obvious intention of this film is to promote Scientology in the very country where fascism has been most successful and who and whose victims are still dealing with these crimes from the past. This is nothing but a tasteless and horrific attempt to take advantage of the most gruesome part of the human history.
The world doesn't need a fascist to be told and taught about Stauffenberg.
