Dihydrogen Monoxide is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless chemical compound known to be a causative factor in thousands of deaths and millions of dollars in property damage every year. Despite the inherent dangers, Dihydrogen Monoxide is still widely used in nuclear power plants, manufacturing of biological and chemical weapons, pesticides, many household cleaners and solvents, and even as an additive in certain foods and beverages.

According to the Center for Disease Control, over 3,500 people in the U.S. die of Dihydrogen Monoxide overdose every year. In many cases, just a teaspoon of Dihydrogen Monoxide is enough to be fatal. Prolonged contact is known to cause moderate to severe tissue damage. It is capable of drastically hindering a vehicle’s braking system, causing numerous motor vehicle accidents every year. Despite growing health concerns, it is still used in certain junk foods, sport and energy drinks, and even baby food.

While it’s affects on the environment remain undetermined, Dihydrogen Monoxide is known to cause erosion, electrical fires, and accelerate corrosion and rust. Large amounts of Dihydrogen Monoxide are carelessly dumped into our lakes, streams, and oceans every day.

While the more severe dangers of Dihydrogen Monoxide are monitored by several agencies, including the FDA, the CDC, and FEMA, public awareness of its true everyday danger is lower than some believe it should be. With its widespread use, it is nearly impossible for one to avoid daily contact with Dihydrogen Monoxide in some form; the only solution is to ban its use entirely.
