It has come to my attention, that there are certain schools that have allowed Dance Dance Revolution (hereafter called "DDR", which is the commonly used abbreviation) into their gym programs. A further description of DDR is as follows: This is a video game where you actually move your body and feet to play. I can tell you that there has been many, and I mean MANY cases in which people have combined DDR and a healthy diet to lose weight and all those other pleasant/healthy things. I have read a few articles like that, and that inspired me to try DDR. Well, that and my I wanted to be better than my friends. Because I like doing that. Anywho...if gym teachers would offer this as an alternative to the regular gym curriculum, more students would be getting exercise, as I seem to know people (including myself, I admit) who refuse to dress for gym because they dislike the program. There you have it. You can make people happy, and keep your stupid programs as well. Yes, it will cost money, you retards. Oh but I'm sure you can afford it. |

9 Aug 2006 - 4:53 Nicola : I support this petition because its reasons are legitimate and I feel strongly that DDR can help school kids lose weight while having fun during phys. ed. |
30 Mar 2006 - 23:07 Chelsea D. : Oh yes. Let's make this happen. I've seen a lot of adults who are against this, they think putting video games into schools is only going to encourage sitting at home doing nothing but playing video games. They also think that this will prevent the develop of social skills. But I don't think that's the case. DDR is such an interactive group game that I don't see how we couldn't develop our normal social skills, and if kids start playing DDR at home, where's the problem? Then, not only will they be losing weight at school, but at home too. Where's the negitave side? |
25 Mar 2006 - 10:04 Zimmy : I support this petition.HECK YES! Anywhooo,if fundraising is needed, there is one easy thing you can do-Candy.Oh,god.I brought a measily little box of fundip to school to help my brother raise money for his eagle scout thingymabob-I was nearly jumped oO' 50cents for one pack, and mom only paid four bucks for the entire box.Now I just got mehself a "varaity pack" with skittles and mnms and crap, and we have a huge garage sale thing tomarrow -smirks- Anywhooo, buy candy in bulk, and pawn it off everywhere.Makes for a great fundrising thing,ddr-centered or not. |

31 Dec 2005 - 7:23 Mark : I think that DDR in schools in a wonderful idea. It gives adolescents a time to work on physical skills while also having fun and getting into what they are doing. i support this 100%. i do think that we would need a fundraiser though. thank you for this wonderful idea |

16 Dec 2005 - 8:13 Kitsune : I think that it should be in schools, I have fun playing a game that is exercise and I don't even really relize that I'm burning calories well having fun. It would also be nice to have it in gyms since it is a fun way to lose weight. |

3 Dec 2005 - 11:04 Zim : I play ddr, and.not to brag, but I'm pretty good. For someone who looks as tall as a sixth grader, when I'm 13.I get B's on A(which pwns all,by the way). But that's besides the point-ddr is probably the only thing that keeps me from being some lazy fat -------.You /do/ get serious workouts on it,especially when you start playing heavy mode. Our school's ghetto,so they're talking about getting some cheap-o really crappy immitation thing, but I'm telling them me and one of my *cough*rich*cough* friends will chip in on the real one.Maybe make an after-school ddr club with it,and use it in those little cycle things. As of now,the only reason I dress out for pe is because my mom fumes when she sees that such an easy grade comes out as a C-But who wants to play football, when you can doodle and chat w/ friends that have hillarious stories about putting whip cream on their boyfriend{which she's planned to marry when they turn 20,and is currently up north 'cause his father died}?So,simply, ddr /motivates/.Use your brain, ghetto UPMS.Do us all a favor and use those diminishing brain cells! |
30 Nov 2005 - 2:58 Steph : DDR rules! My friends would love that!!! i have it and i lost 5 lbs very quickly! |
17 Nov 2005 - 22:40 Quinn B. : |
9 Nov 2005 - 20:46 Brandon B. : DDR is what everyone should play because of the increasing obesity in schools it will make students say "Man I can't wait for gym class today." |
4 Nov 2005 - 5:40 somnalis : DDR is a smart way to get kids to exercise. If I didn't have DDR at my house, I'd probably be overweight. I think that schools that can afford it should put it in their PE programs. |
7 Oct 2005 - 23:12 Justin : I already got my teacher to think about it. She says it's a good idea. All the teachers are for it. Even the guidance person. They're gonna get DDR Extreme 2 for PS2 and we only need 1! It's one of the stops for that thing where you lift weights and stuff. It's gonna be awesome! SIGN UP NOW! |
24 Aug 2005 - 1:09 brielle : HECK YES! are gym classes are always stupid. BRING IN THE DDR!!!!!! |
23 Aug 2005 - 23:57 Kitsune : It sounds like a great idea, i want DDR in my school too!! |
17 Aug 2005 - 0:45 jessica : wooo! i hope the stupid teachers and principal are smart enough to listen to us!!! |
14 Aug 2005 - 20:56 Mary D. : Yeah.. You don't need those expensive metal pads either. I have 2 of the cloth type ones, and they work just fine. They're pretty darn cheap, and DDR is beyond fun, and a good way to exercise. |
14 Aug 2005 - 20:52 Lily : I've already lost some weight by playing DDR. So many people think it's just a stupid game, but when they see that it's fun and you can lose weight while doing so, I think it's worth a try. |
14 Aug 2005 - 20:51 Neal : I agree all the way. |
14 Aug 2005 - 20:49 Carol : DDR is actually a great way for kids to lose weight. My daughter plays the "workout mode" almost everyday, and she burns about 300-400 calories on it. Not bad in my opinion. |
14 Aug 2005 - 20:47 Natalie : We have DDR at my high school, so I think others deserve to have fun while getting fit as well. We also have a DDR club after school so everyone can just hang out and play at school. |
14 Aug 2005 - 0:56 Katie : Actually, my gym teacher would probably let us do this...the dance teacher lets her class play sometimes...But it needs to be done in more schools! |
13 Aug 2005 - 9:15 Travis : Amen. |
13 Aug 2005 - 6:30 Sam : I say why not!?! you make perfectly good points. this will not only give more kids exercise but itll make our school look good! Brilliant!!!Now only if we could get better music |
12 Aug 2005 - 12:48 Ryan B. : DDR as an alt to gym is the best idea I have heard of. When I think of DDR I think of either dancing or a good work. |
12 Aug 2005 - 12:45 Scott : DDR is more than just a game... |
12 Aug 2005 - 10:10 Skurka : it should be an alt to gym class that should have ddr/dodge ball/P.E |
11 Aug 2005 - 3:57 Rebecca : DDR is great, and sure would be a lot more fun than those stupid pilates videos. |
11 Aug 2005 - 1:54 Cory C : Put DDR in schools now It is well worth it. I have lost alot of waeight tanks to it! |
11 Aug 2005 - 0:27 Reife : This is most certaintly a great idea. Although we would have to put up a fundraiser to help to pay for the pads/multiple systems/ game discs. So all in all we'd have to get around $1000 or so dollars. |
10 Aug 2005 - 23:52 alexis : dancing is considered a sport we should do it during gym |
10 Aug 2005 - 23:39 Marissa : YAY! DDR in gym would be great then I wouldn't fail it half of the time |
10 Aug 2005 - 23:10 Emi : PUT DDR IN MY SCHOOL, DAMNIT. xD. Most people hate to participate in gym class, but if DDR was in the program, those who usually don't want to, will. |
10 Aug 2005 - 22:36 Yep : I always hated dressing for gym in those stupid outfits, I want to do those activities in jean shorts, they feel more natural and most people build a liking to certain clothing. DDR would be fun for gym, video games are starting to get more physically focused anyways, look WarioWare: Twisted and WarioWare: Touched. |
10 Aug 2005 - 21:59 Sylvia : YAY ddr in gym ... then i wont have to "forget" my gym clothes every class!!! if they put DDR in gym i'll play YAYY FOR DDR |
10 Aug 2005 - 21:45 Pim : Yay ddr for gym SIGN NOW!!! |
