Des Moines music venues like the House of Bricks, People's Court, and Vaudeville Mews currently cannot hold all ages shows past 9pm. This takes away from making Des Moines a vibrant music community for all of its citizens.

Sign this petition to show your support to allow all ages shows in Des Moines. Also please attend the Des Moines Music Commission Open Forum on Tuesday, November 10 at 7pm at the Des Moines City Council Chambers to show support and voice your opinion.

The current city code (Sec. 10-8) doesn't allow minors in a licensed liquor establishment after 9pm. The previous Designated Music Venue Ordinance, which addressed this issue, failed to work due to unrealistic requirements of the music venues. Smaller music venues should be afforded the same rules as other venues such as Hoyt Sherman Place, Civic Center, and Wells Fargo Arena. An exception to city code Sec. 10-8 needs to be addressed to allow minors to attend shows at smaller music venues.

We would like to encourage the Des Moines Music Commission, City Managers Office, Police Department, and City Council to explore and pass alternatives to allow Des Moines' younger citizens a better opportunity to be exposed to music at venues of all sizes.

I support this petition. Music should be available to EVERYONE. A place that serves alcohol should patrol who is ordering drinks, not restricting who can be in the bar. It teaches a level of maturity to be around drinking and not be the one doing it. It reinforces that you DON\'T NEED TO DRINK TO HAVE FUN!

I support this petition, because a a few years back when we were allowed all ages shows after 9 there was a more active local and national music scene in Des Moines.

I support this petition. This needs to happen to support the local music scene, help the establishments continue to bring local bands to the forefront and give teens a viable place where they can go, listen to music and even be encouraged to become involved in the local music scene
