We, the undersigned, request that David Blunkett, Home Secretary, immediately grants refugee status to Amin Moghimian Naeini.

Amin is a 28 year old Iranian asylum seeker. He has a degree in English from Azad University, along with FCE in English from our local college.

Amin has been in the UK for 4 years. He is a political refugee who had freedom of speech against the Government.

Amin had been in National Service, when somebody had, it is believed, tampered with the vehicle that he was driving, causing him to have a serious accident. He was informed by a member of his family, who was of a high rank in the Military that he should be careful of what he was saying.

The Government were harassing, his mother and father to find his whereabouts.

He got into Azad University, where he voiced his political opinions, causing the University to disallow him to continue his studies unless he was able to keep quiet.

He then started to receive threats to his life, and that of his family, if he continued to express his opinions in public. This is when he left Iran.

Amin has been in the UK for four years, and married to an English Citizen for two of those years. He is now a Christian. Which carries the death sentence in Iran.

The English Court have decided that it is viable for him, and his wife and step son to go to Iran. Believing that no harm will come to him. We have a lot of evidence that shows asylum seekers who have returned to Iran, and been imprisoned, or killed. Mostly with nobody knowing of their whereabouts.

He is now due for deportation back to Iran.

It is absurd that our Government can make such a decision, without considering the consequences to our lives. The impact that this would have on us. We are settled here. I as an English citizen have worked my whole life, and surely, as this is a “Free Country” deserves the right to marry whomever I fall in love with, and surely we deserve the right to make a life together.

We have tried to contact various organisations, and it seems that nobody is willing to help us, and that this is something we have to do alone, and which we do not have much time. If Amin is returned to Iran, he will be killed, leaving a wife and step-son alone. But according to the Government this is irrelevant information.

He is a Christian; it does carry the death penalty. Even if he had not changed his religion, he would still be killed on returning to Iran. We have to stop this from happening to him, and to the many other innocent people that fall in love.

I beleive that even though that this man is a foreign man by birth he has the same right as any british born person, and should have the same rights and should not be judged on what his birthright people beleive in or do.

Amin should be allowed to stay with his family. He has proved his intention and commitment in so many ways.

politics and religion have a lot to answer for....please let him stay. Ask yourself what would actually be achieved by sending him back..

I think it is disgraceful, that our government will not allow this couple to remain in the UK where we apparently are a "Free Country". It is so sad, that they fell in love, and now, he has to leave. How can our government stand by and let this happen
