This petition is to express widespread opposition to the proposed Desert Rock Power Plant. The EPA assessment did not take into consideration addressing the Executive Order 12898: “Federal Actions to Address Environmental Justice in Minority Populations and Low-Income Populations.” Compliance with Environmental Justice is required for the Air Quality permit, where issues of concern include: “Disproportionate exposure to pollutants, potential health problems (i.e. respiratory, heavy metals in fish, etc”)* Therefore, residents insist that a health assessment, including Access Issues is essential as a baseline measure for monitoring purposes. Residents strongly object to being exposed to further pollution. A health study needs to be conducted to address health problems and lack of access to health care.

When considering the proposed Desert Rock Power Plant, my question is: Why is the EPA allowing the high concentration of power plants in the Four Corners region, resulting in degregated public health and quality of life.

Plant The EPA's modeling was flawed because air monitors were located only at Farmington and at Rio Rancho near Albuquerque. Local and real world data from local hospitals is needed, the testing centers that where there have not been operating for quite some time. To act as if the next closets sensor station if adequate is not sound science.

High emission levels from Four Corners and San Juan Power Plants has severely affected agriculture in the San Juan basin. I object to subjecting the land to more air pollution, which will have severe repercussions on the agriculture and pastoral lifestyle on which local residents' incomes rely. Additionally, I object to the violent treatment of the earth that is an unavoidable result of strip mining.

I support the alteratives. If is isn't saying that then I am sorry. It has been awhile since I have wrote to something like this. Yep. I think the alternatives is much better because it provides a safe job and it is long term. Instead of being laid off in the middle of the year when someone has to pay off debt and other things like that. It is so freaking sucks when you think about it. people have to lose their grazing permitts for what a few years for them to work and these people have to lose so many from that.

The levels of mercury from the nearby coal plants are already way too high; this would only increase those unwanted levels. Power plants are known to give off dangerous and harmful cancer causing carcinagens that are harmful to us all. This powerplant would also only bring us further to climate change and would exacerbate the issue of global warming, something we are already seeing signs of in our area. Please do not build this powerplant!!!
