Convict the Conspirators who Murdered Sr. Dorothy
Published April 26, 2010
The world remains vigilantly and keenly focused on the trials of those involved in the consortium to kill Sister Dorothy Stang, a defender of human rights that worked in the area of agrarian conflicts, who was murdered in Anapu, Brazil on February 12, 2005.
Sister Dorothy Stang possessed a profound dedication to the people of Brazil, the Amazonian Rainforest, and the countless systems worldwide that are affected by its continued destruction. She worked to bring liberation and equality to the very poorest of Brazil's citizens. She had worked with social movements in the state of Para for 40 years. Her life of service, dedication to the people of Brazil, and commitment to changing the affects of man's wholesale destruction of the rainforest deserves a more appropriate epitaph, than "Dorothy's Killer Acquitted."
On May 6th, 2008 Vitalmiro "Bida" Moura, one of the chief architects of Sr. Dorothy's murder was acquitted after having been sentenced to 30 years in prison for his role in the murder. His aquittal was based on the flip-flopping of the testimony of the hired gunment who fired the bullets that killed Sr. Dorothy. First they implicated Bida, then (once they were all sentenced) they said he was uninvolved. On April 13th, 2010 Bida was finally convicted.
At the end of April 2010, the rancher implicated in Sr. Dorothy's murder, Regivaldo Pereiva Galvao, will stand trial.

We ask the Government of Brazil and the State of Para join with the prosecution to seek justice for Sr. Dorothy.
We request that Vitamilro "Bida" Moura serve his full prison sentence
We ash the Government of Brazil make a statement of intention to denounce land and environmental crimes in the communities of Anapu
We ask the other rancher implicated in Sister Dorothy's murder, Regivaldo Pereiva Galvao, having been granted habeas corpus 3 years ago, be made to stand trial for his involvement in the consortium to murder Sister Dorothy.
We posit that the whole of Brazil, as well as the rest of the world, is denied justice when the men who orchestra murder are acquitted of their role in its undertaking
We seek just for Dorothy now!
We stand united to determine whether justice in Brazil has a cost, or if it is truly blind.
