Currently, at California State University, Fullerton, college students who choose to double major are not given the appropriate recognition for their hard work. When a student chooses to double major, only the primary degree and major will be listed on the computer. The additional major will be noted in the student file for graduation check purposes and will appear on the transcript at the time of graduation. The recognition of the second major DOES NOT appear on the diploma. We, as college students, feel that students who double majors should be given a second diploma or have both majors appear on one diploma. If a student has a major and a minor, the minor appears on the diploma. But a student who works hard to complete two degrees does not get the recognition on the diploma nor is a second diploma awarded. This petition is voluntary and former and current college students, staff, and faculty at California State University, Fullerton are signing out of their acknowledgment about the issue. The intention of this petition is for double majors to be given the appropriate recognition with either obtaining a second diploma or having both majors written on one diploma.
