Environmental Concerns Committee
We the undersigned support and affirm the initiating of the Environmental Concerns Committee (ECC).
• Whereas, environmental degradation increases daily at an alarming rate;
• Whereas, we depend on natural resources (i.e. trees, water, coal, oil, etc.) for our academic progression and life;
• Whereas, we are a Christian college and are responsible for God’s creation;
• Whereas, we waste natural resources without a conscience;
• Whereas, we must provide for the future generations in a manner conducive to healthy living;

We commit to supporting recycling and sustainable energy efforts on Georgetown College’s campus. This will be done without concern for economic gain or profit, but done in such a manner as to promote lifestyle change among students and faculty alike. These are perilous times for the World. Further delay in action is NOT satisfactory. We unite in a cause regardless of political stance. We unite in an effort that looks past racial, economic, social, geographic, and religious barriers.

Needless paper waste (trees) from the LRC printers also results in wasted electricity (coal) and wasted manpower (me), the last of which could be much better applied to helping students, since I'm the only staffer here at night.

Excellent idea. Implementing such change is always an uphill battle, but this is a worthy one.

Recycling and saving resources is vital, but instituting this will require a culture change and committment to see it through

A very good idea. Talk to me about our overuse of cups.
