Well, I am one of those Ethiopians in diaspora. I am a master's student at the university of Pretoria, South Africa.
I learned about the current unprecedent crisis in our country with such a sympathy with those who have lost their precious life for true democracy. Indeed, It is a dark mark on the country's history. It was a deadly brutality, atrocity and barbaric act perpetrated by the ruling party that only adhers to the rule of the jungle.
We, as a future leaders of the country, feel deeply sorry to be ruled by such a 'one man show" ruling party. What are these cruel leaders leaving for us? What kind of footprint are they leaving behind? I leave these and other questions to all concerned people.
On the otherhand, I am truly sorry that the so called international community particularly the US and UK have turned their blind eyes. In fact, sorry to say, they don't care much if there is no benefit in it. After all that is the rule of the game in our contemporary politics. Needless to mention, these nations use democracy and human rights issues as a tool to prevail their power over... They have no business with Ethiopia. We should not fool ourselves that these people do really care about democracy and human rights.
Lastly, I put my trust in the Almighty God!!!
May God bless our country! Amen
Dear Mr. president,
We are witnessing a dictator being blessed for his act of terror against his people. I think it is the right time to give a moral support to those who fight against injustice and We all expect the alliance with the oppressed promised by you in the inaugural ceremony of your presidency. This will give a new opportunity for all oppressed in the continent to rise against their oppressors. American’s true allies will be the people whose sorrow and grief shared in their hard times and whose burden could be relieved because of the concern showed to them by your administration.
With great respect,
Garuma
On May 15 Ethiopian people came out to vote his government not EPRDF, everybody had believed the vote will be faire, unfortunately the vote didn't fair. Please once in your life be faire, not only for innocent people, but to respect God.
I blieve that you clearly understood the situation in Ethiopia , but i dont know why you ignored this Please stop Meles killing our people
Ethiopia 4 Life
Dear President Bush & Bliar
I blieve that you clearly understood the situation in Ethiopia , but i dont know why you ignored this helpless, opressed people why????? Mr,Bush you said democracy in the world is a national securty issue & in your second inaugural speech that all who live in hope-lessness can know the united state will not ignore your oppression or excuse your oppressors, this's what exactly we Ethiopian appealing for, Once again where's the promises you did ? we Ethiopian are tyred of this dictator in his 14 years ruling what the fact about Meles regime is ,
-Still more then 9 million peoples are starving right this time because of his land policy
-he made a bloody war with Erteria to pro-long his time by his divide and rule policy,
-from day one he start killing & imprisoned ,oppositions leaders,
Journalists & others who spoek out and stand for the interst of this country ,
-In last June election Meles gave direct order to his Agazi solders to gun down more then 40 peacful unarmed demonstrators and universty students After all he even did not regrat for the killings,
The international community have to put pressure on the Government to stablizing the situation in horn of Africa ,if not by now violence and lowlessness would be repeated & a lot lives would be lost ,We have to bring the change by peaceful struggle, no matter the price we paid ,but many ethiopian lost confidense in the whole process of this election sabotage, and pack of lies, this Government refused to accept the Vote and decision of May 15/2005, there fore the U S & E U can effectively assist ethiopian in restrong their stolen votes, that will be the only meangful and timely assistance to avoid the bloodshed and ensure peace and stability in the horn of Africa ,If you fail to support peoples interst on time
Dear President bush and Prime minister Blair:
I sincerly belived that it is the will of God the almighty that puts you in a position of power. I also belived that both of you have the heart to help millions of Ethiopians who waited long to see a day of good governance. Help Ethiopians by simply saying NO TO DICTATORSHIP IN ETHIOPIA. GOD works throgh people, hope you can play god and chose to stand by the millions of Ethiopians. Please chose to be a friend of Ethiopia, who has no real friend for a while.
Being a Ferengi (stranger) in Addis, I am deeply disgusted by rich countries' attitude towards an unforgivable regime ant its daily human rights violation.
our peaple is fighting the regime which wants to steal the vote of the peaple but the government who has all the apparatues uses all the means he has to put a barrier to our rights by using well flourished words like law and order and national security . But if we look the case who is against the law and order and the national security of the country we can see clearly it is the authorities who are treatening the peaceful co-existance of the peaple .
They are against acadamic freedom their forces raided the campuses of Addis Abeba university by force and kicking students cruelly and detaining students from their compound .
Innocent citizens has been killed in day light without justice and thousands have been thrown to prisons with out any charge and due to the law .
some peaples elected incoming PM have been shot by gun and otheres have been in a house arrest and under strict survillance by the regimes security officers so they could not even have in touch with the society.
We never expect such arrogant and cruel act from Ethiopian government .
So they came to power by gun and they are ruling the peaple by presure and wish to continue their rule by dividing the society in ethnicity .
But all these are unacceptable by majority , Ethiopians are standing together for their rights and no one will stop them by gun .
Where are the so-called "champions of democracy"? Please do not preach about democracy to the world if you do not believe in it.The Ethiopian people deserve democracy and nothing less.
On May 15 the Ethiopian people vote for preferred poletical candidates to act as representatives in government. The Meles regime uses force to ensure that only the government-approved candidates are chosen. This is undemocratic. We have to respect peoples vote through a fair elective process. This is what democracy all about.

The struggle for democracy in Ethiopia may have been encouraged by President Bush’s unswerving dedication to help democracies flourish all over the world. Bush believes that democratic rights and governance are god given rights and are not bestowed by the whims of aristocracies or lucky bandits who end up ruling a country.
I was in Ethiopia during the May-June time period. Though I voted for Kerry, I found out that my own people overwhelmingly loved Bush. The reason was President Bush wanted democracies to flourish all over the world. After my visit I became a changed person. I could not believe that Bush could give so many people such great hope and aspirations. President Bush is a great visionary for he believes that dictatorships are breeding grounds for terrorism, government corruption, in a word for all that is evil.
The people of Ethiopia believed when President Bush said “Time after time, observers have questioned whether this country, or that people, or this group, are "ready" for democracy -- as if freedom were a prize you win for meeting our own Western standards of progress. In fact, the daily work of democracy itself is the path of progress. It teaches cooperation, the free exchange of ideas, and the peaceful resolution of differences. As men and women are showing, from Bangladesh to Botswana, to Mongolia, it is the practice of democracy that makes a nation ready for democracy, and every nation can start on this path.”
I call on my President; not for the impossible, but to only make sure that the true result of the election in Ethiopia is implemented. The US knows that the Meles regime has lost this election in a landslide. President Bush is offended when people say that some people are not ready for democracy. Please President Bush help the Ethiopian people realize their dreams by honoring their true winners of this election. I have no doubt that these leaders will be the first bastions of a democratically elected go
TPLF has always been bent on destriying Ethiopia and the fabrics that hold the people together.Ethiopians have demonistrated unconditionaly their dissatisfaction with TPLF rule by casting their vote overwhilmingly to the opposition. TPLF has been ruling the country against the will of the majority. We want the verdict of the people to be respected.
President Bush, I know you have two beautiful daughters which you always look at them like precious, and those Ethiopian kids their families will think the same way but your friend Meles Zenawi brutally killed, murdered them. I was born in Ethiopia, but I am an American Citzen which I'm proud of. I always admire you for giving others a true democracy, humanity and liberty such as Iraq, Georgia, Ukrane, etc, I don't know why you turn your face, or ignore about Ethiopia situation. The people of Ethiopia voted for their democracy, leaders. For GOD SAKE help Ethiopia from this bloody murderer, massacre. Your help on this matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
ethiopia government and its security started their horrible terrorist attack before 14 years.they killed so many peopel the world know small number.when he starte his adminsteration/before 14 years/he say that ethiopian peopel eat once a day we try to make it three times a day.but still now peopel it once a day if you are lucky, otherwise you only think about food.if the world did not help us we have to go jungel to save ours peopel.
Prime Minister Tony Blair ,whenever you are not listening to the other peopl's cry for democracy and freedom ,your door will be nocked to remind u what should be done ,why wait untill such time and relish at the expense of civilians death?
I DO STRONGLY SUPPORT THE CURRENT GOVBERNMENT FOR WHAT THEY ARE DOING FOR OUR COUNTRY. I RATHER VERY STRONGLY HATE THE DERG LOOK ALIKE OPPOSITION CUD!!!! Do you, Pres. Bush and PM Blair, know that Mr. Hailu Shawl was one of the top cadres of the previous regime and is conspiring to bring same dictatorship to Ethiopia in THE name of election. Do you also know that he is driven by hate than reconcilliation.
dear president Bush and PM Blair free the civilized people from the dictators and uncivilized EPRDF leaders so that peace, freedom and democracy will be with Ethiopians forever;which might also help you for your strong efort to eradicate poverty for the whole African nation.thank you so much
When it's all said and done The Ethiopian people will liberate with their sacrifice. All we are asking is You MP Tony to stop financing African dictators in the the name of anti-terror etc ...
What moral ground would be there to consider a killer to be an ally in the fight against terrorism. The USA, UK and EU leaders could easily understand who is Meles and what is going in Ethiopia from the recent inhuman acts taken by the government. If they are really committed for democracy, law and order, this is crucial time of their judgement.
No election under Meles regime can be fair and free. EPRDF is undemocrat and continues to stay in power against the will of the Ethiopian people. Meles and Bereket still violate human rights and continues to cheat the International comunity by paying a lip service to the International Human Rights.

It is time Bush and Blair fulfill their promise of supporting freedom. Ethiopians have voted out the ruing regime, which is hanging on by rigging the election process. Enough is enough. Let the voice of the people prevail!!!!
I support the Ethiopian people fight for their right and freedom Mr. P.M. Tony Blare and Mr. President G. Bush stop supporting this racialist regime and help us for a freedom and Democracy history will ask you one day.
Dictatorship is always dictatorship wheter it is in Iraq or Ethiopia. You told us you stand for justice as "a security issue" why are you not supporting the people of Ethiopia and denounce the dictator who is ruling Ethiopia by deception and killings.
Mr. Bush I am an American and do not let me down by ignoring the people issue in Ethiopia.
what has been happening in Ethiopia the last two months was a shame to the super powers who choose to stay silent when peaceful Ehiopians been murdered, imprisonned and tortured by a dictator regime.
EPRDF, Please do not use your mind for the work of evil, but use it for stability, unity, prospority of our sufferig Mother Etiopia.
Thank you, the creator, for leting us to express our feeling.
Mr President, Mr Prime Minister
I've no affiliation to any political party in any form except being a simple concerned citizen.
We Ethiopians have learnt a lot from the latest development of fraudulent election process about what we used to believe called 'democracy'.
We're begging the western media to say not what we want them to say; but to voice the reality in pre and post election Ethiopia. We're begging the democratic west to intervene about the killings of the innocents by brutal hands of pro-Albanian socialism TPLF who changed its name to EPRDF.
No one wants to stand with our people or listen our people's cry who are fighting for real democracy and have said no to the EPRDF tyranny.
Mr president, we didn't see your promise in action.
Mr Prime Minister, you showed regretable alliance with Mr Zenawi by inviting to your G8 summit while Ethiopians were mourning of the death of their sons and daughters who were killed by direct order of the same invtee Mr Zenawi.
EU and US condemn the violence. They make Zenawi's regime who is the sponsor of June 6 killing and the intimidated, harrased and victims of the killing responsible equally which is outrageaous! I'm not sure how the opposition with no arm can stop the intimidation while the ruling regime has all the tools to do what he wants.
It is a mystery to this time why our people case is less important than any other occurences which are similar and your interference and support of those people was obvious and serious.
Please let not play politics at the expense of the 71 million people who wants the real democracy not dictatorship, hatred and division among ethnic groups for the advantage of Meles Zenawi's dictatorship rule.
If you are involved in this turning point, it adviseable you play a fair and legitimate role; otherwise leave us alone and you will see how we can
I just can't believe the civilized world tolerate such a tyrant in our days. Isn't obvious that the major cause of Ethiopians misery are those dictators. How many of those innocent people should shade their blood and how long should last the hypocrisy of this civilized world? Isn't better to have a full belly and democracy rather than an empty belly and a dictator.
Please help us to remove Melese the way you removed Mengistu H/Mariam. He is no good to his people leave alone to Africa and the World. He is a divider and he is taking his poor people donations to himself. Is i'nt a shame? If you give him a chance he will make fool out of you.
Let's come back to God and look for His saving power, while pushing in our struggle. 'cause I strongly believe that it is not by our power and might, unless God will help us. So, let's pray and let's fight. God'll save Ethiopia for His glory.
i think melas zenawi is ******* and he don`t give **** about the poliats so 2 of them are returen to ethiopia but one off them are still in djboutti so we have to help him
we want the voice of the ethiopian must be respected. The Ethiopian people are thirsty of democracy &freedom not dictators and tyrant leader. We ask the president of america Mr.Bush and the prime minister of Britain Mr.Tony Blair you stand for dimocratic right,so we Ethiopians ask you the peoples voice must be respected and we have one voice.
The situation in Ethiopia as it is in today is likely on its way towards becoming out of hand unless the western leaders we are appealing to promptly intervene. A plan to introduce the Rwandan type massacare declared top on agenda from the EPRDF side unless rewarded victory by its partisan NEB. I implore Mr. Bush and Blair to come to our rescue.
I personaly beg these western powers to exert their power on the Ethiopian government to respect human right and the will of people. The harasment on the oposiion and the people who support them is not a democracy. Please do not let the ethiopian people down.
