A MIDNIGHT EXPRESS IN INDIA - THE STORY OF AN INNOCENT MAN AGAINST THE POLICE AND MEDIA OF INDIA

Shai Ben Haiun - aka. Technodrome - is a well respected figure in the world Trance scene, his music has taken him to play across the globe, and as a producer his music is played by djs across the world, with releases including one album and tracks on over 15 compilations.

Shai originates from Kiryat Gat which is a very small town in Israel, and comes from a working class family.

On October 4th Shai arrived for a three day visit to India, to play on the 5th of October at this private party in a highly regarded and exclusive "72 Degrees East" Club, which caters to the sons and daughters of the rich and famous Mumbay (formerly Bombay) in India.

This party turned into a fiasco when Police raided the club on a tip off and arrested around 240 of the party guests and the party organizers and the DJs at the party for various drug related charges. Accusing Shai of ridiculous charges of possession and intent to sell drugs - not having found any drugs on his body.

The Police and media of India who could not stick charges on the sons of India's rich and famous managed to find a scape goat in the form of the defenseless 26 year old Shai Ben Haiun, a foreigner against the windmills of justice (or injustice) now since he's not the son of some celebrity or influential government minister, and arrives from a simple background is awaiting trial in Bombai Jail without possibility to make bail while all the others were released from any incarceration.

INSTEAD OF ACCUSING THE ORGANIZERS, PROMOTERS, CLUB LANDLORDS AND THE SECURITY OF THE CLUB - FOR ALLOWING SUCH SHAMELESS CONSUMPTION OF DRUGS IN PUBLIC. INDIA'S POLICE AND MEDIA WOULD RATHER BLAME AN INNOCENT FOREIGNER ARTIST FOR THE SHORTCOMINGS OF INDIA'S SOCIETY.

Just to prove the point that Club was reputed to hold illegal drug parties as a policy, and held another party a couple of days earlier - which was a day before Shai even landed in India, we bring you an article from www.MID-DAY.com Indian Epaper:

"Among the 239 people that were detained after the rave party raid at Juhu's Bombay 72Ã?Â° East late Sunday night were children of celebrities too. Sana and Suraj Panscholi, children of actor Aditya Panscholi, and Shakti Kapoor's son Siddhant were detained, according to a source present at the party.

Also present were Shivendra Pawar, son of former Income Tax officer L S Pawar, and Azhar Supariwala, the grandson of 80s don Haji Mastan.

"I saw all these star kids pop Ecstasy tablets," said the source. "Drugs were being peddled openly in the vicinity. Cigarettes and joints made of weed and hash were openly rolled and smoked."

Similar party held in the same area

"This, despite a ban on smoking in restaurants. Class A drugs like LSD were being done in more private areas like the bathroom and VIP lounge," the source added.

A similar kind of party was held at the same location only 48 hours before the raid and lasted till the wee hours, said the source."
