Gerhard Haderer is a famous austrian cartoonist and was sentenced to 6 months jail by a greek court for the following reason: he published a book called "The Life of Jesus" where he compared the effects of frankincense with those of cannabis.

This judgement is against the human right to give one's opinion.

Signing this petition will help his friends and fans to convince the politicians of the austrian government to do everything they can to merge this judgement.

126 18 Apr 2005 - 1:23    Øyvind Braaten : He's a cartoonist, not an terorist.
125 17 Apr 2005 - 23:17    robert : I am too late he has been frieed but I want to go on the record as saying this conviction was wrong and while I don't know much about Greek law I do know the world will be a much better place without "chrisitan" laws.

116 16 Apr 2005 - 11:30    Hans Christian Vang : It seems very silly to me to sentence someone to jail - og any other form of punishment - for doing a comic book about Jesus. The bible is one big hoax anyway - why not sentence the catholic church for worldwide manipulation of humanity? Jesus christ!
115 16 Apr 2005 - 6:32    Bent Soegaard : Peace said Jesus - and that is one thing, that the catholic church has never learned.
114 16 Apr 2005 - 6:10    Franz Nowak :
113 16 Apr 2005 - 5:29    Thomas Schrøder : Deal with your own pedifile priests within the Church before You attack others! Thomas Schrøder Author & Editor
112 16 Apr 2005 - 2:04    Daniel Lindegaard : Some people need to weake up, and smell the 21st Century...
111 16 Apr 2005 - 1:51    Kim P Jarner : religion claims that they will free peoples spirit. So how can jail be one of their options?? That dosen´t fit in. This is the 21 century edition of the inquisition.
110 16 Apr 2005 - 1:41    Morten Gerdsen : Prison bescause of a cartoon??? Stop this madness!
109 16 Apr 2005 - 1:39    Michael Christoffersen : Human rights are in a bad state in Europe. Ex. the danish government won't incorporate the human rights in danish law. So why should some fanatic old men not be allowed to violate an artists right to perform?? The 9/11-terrorists has done their job well! And Bush plus his puppets...
108 16 Apr 2005 - 1:35    Kent Damgaard : If anybodys religion wants to deny us our basic human rights, then it's the religion, not us who should be taken to court.
107 16 Apr 2005 - 1:12    Henrik Rehr : Mr. Haderer is the victim of a weak church. The whole notion of "blasfemi" is a sign of a profound insecurity in the belief in Christ. Henrik Rehr cartoonist
106 16 Apr 2005 - 1:09    Frank Madsen : The Greek court's ruling is not a very wise one. And only so short time after they killed Sokrates.
105 14 Apr 2005 - 23:50    giorgio : amen
104 14 Apr 2005 - 23:11    Linda : Freedom of speech is obviously no more!!
103 14 Apr 2005 - 20:44    Marianna Veneti : Greek and orthodox, but the cartoon was great and really funny. I wish our clergies was like Jesus... Thanks mr Haderer.!!!!!!!
102 14 Apr 2005 - 13:39    Don Maddison : A suggestion to Gerhard Haderer is that he should make fun of all religious figures including Mohammed. Lets see if the Muslims are as tolerant as the Christians. Having your work banned is nothing in comparison to dying for your art.
101 14 Apr 2005 - 2:33    alex : as my greek ex-girlfriend would say: malakies... ante, let him go!
100 14 Apr 2005 - 0:48    Lexx : Freedom of speech is an old joke!
99 13 Apr 2005 - 15:36    Melina Jordanou : All this is rubbish. We have freedom of speech, we do not live in the Stone Age. Let the man go!
98 13 Apr 2005 - 11:04    James Drummond : Ostracism began in Greece. What goes around, comes around. I suggest painting yourself as Jesus and the Greek Orthodox theologians as the Sanhedrin, setting the court of the Sanhedrin in the interior of a teapot.
97 13 Apr 2005 - 7:06    Chris Thompson : Gerhard, keep up the good work and don't let the *******s grind you down!
96 12 Apr 2005 - 18:21    Giorgos : Let's destroy the Hellenic Cristian Democracy of Iran! Let's do it!
95 12 Apr 2005 - 16:19    Pavlos M : Greece should not jail a person for artistic views. Why do they show "The Life of Brian" on TV and not find this blasphemous.
94 11 Apr 2005 - 23:27    andre bonito : Free Greece from the Kristians Long Live Zeus
93 11 Apr 2005 - 19:58    Marcos : Free culture, free Greece from theocracy.

90 9 Apr 2005 - 14:09    Paul : scandalous!!
89 8 Apr 2005 - 5:23    joana csta :
88 8 Apr 2005 - 5:00    Simon Ricci : This whole thing sounds like a joke! But still, it wouldn't be the first time ignorant and evil men hid behind religion. Isn't ignorance, hatred and vengeance worse threats to christianity (or mankind) than a comic book? In my oppinion politics and religion should not be mixed in the first place. Scary!
87 7 Apr 2005 - 23:51    Sara Reither :
86 7 Apr 2005 - 22:12    Max : Freedom for culture!
85 7 Apr 2005 - 14:11    Rex Tan : Give Arts the freedom it deserves. Spare Arts from politics and religious extremists.

82 5 Apr 2005 - 18:47    Bado : It's all greek to me why they can't see the humour in Haderer's cartoons.
81 5 Apr 2005 - 6:32    Christine : Who is any church, any religion, or any believers of a religion to voice out against a comic book that is doing no harm to anyone? What are they afraid of? Why don't people lighten up about things instead of creating wars on everything? Maybe the old ways just aren't working anymore!!! Evolution didn't end with us growing thumbs and watching television!!!
80 5 Apr 2005 - 1:04    Ole :
79 4 Apr 2005 - 1:18    Olivier Raynaud : Tout cequi s'oppose à l'humour s'apparente à une dictature!
