On a handful of Biblical passages, that address homosexuality, many conservative Christians find the first chapter of Romans to be definitive. It describes homosexual acts as degrading passions. Truthfully, you need to look at the context of it, the flow of it. Romans chapter 2 says “therefore� which in the English language means ~ because of what I just said, now I’m going to say something else with a base of it ~ “Therefore who are you to Judge, O Man, because you who Judge are guilty of the same.� What does Paul mean there? If really the Romans 1 is a condemnations of homosexuals, then Paul must be saying that anybody who Judges homosexuals is homosexual! We need to admit that Romans 1 is not about homosexuals, that Romans 1 was about people who put themselves in the place of God. Men with men, women with women was just one illustration that pop into Paul’s mind as somebody who really wasn’t a member of the Roman/Greek society, but who looked on from a distance and disapproved of them. Then he said ok you who Judge, you who put yourself into the place of God, and past Judgment on other people then you to are making an idol out of yourself, letting your ego take the place of the creator, who is the only one in a place to Judge.
