For as long as I have been a student in Gloucester High School the class rotation schedule has always been the same. Each day of the week had its own block schedule to it, simplistic and easy to remember. Everyday the first block would end at the same time, as would the second and those to follow. The lunch schedule was also uniformed and easy to remember. Upperclassmen would take pride in the fact that they had they're classes and block schedule down solid, looked down at the underclassmen whom had to check their compass to find out what block it was. Those were the good times. Now in the 2007-2008 school year the class schedule we've come to know and love has been destroyed, and replaced with a new seven-day rotation. Along with this homeroom has been done away with, causing the times to change as well. The first block no longer ends at 8:25 AM but now at 8:15 AM along with the rest of the times too. To further throw off the time schedule is a new "long block" extending one block each day by 19 minutes. If that wasn't enough confusion, the last three days of the cycle have the "long block" at another time, causing the remaining three days to have completely different times. This new schedule has everybody in the school confused about what time the block starts or end or for that matter what block it even is. Upperclassmen are having a hard time changing the schedule they've known to this new one and the Freshmen are more confused then they should be. Even the man assigned to ringing the bells is getting confused about when to ring them. By the time the school gets used to this system, we'll be well into May by that time. The new bell cycle make sense and does help out classes with extra time but the change is doing more harm than good. This petition will hopefully show you how many people oppose this new system and hope that you will bring back the old system of classes and ease this headache.
