We, the graduating class of 2007, have a great deal of respect for President Wagner. However, in terms of making our graduation special and meaningful, we would like to bring in an outside speaker for graduation. We understand that we are still planning on bringing someone for Class Day. However, as President Wagner already speaks at graduation about the specifics of the Emory community, the decision to have him as the only speaker diminishes the importance of the ceremony.

I respect President Wagner, and he is a great leader of our school, but as
an alum of Emory, I think it is totally disrespectful to not have an
external speaker as well. It is an important part of graduation and shows
the pride and excellence we have in Emory compared to other universities.
To not have an amazing speaker is disrespectful our university and the
network we create.

Having Pres. Wagner as the only speaker undermines the importance of
graduation day. The school obviously has all the money in the world, why
not try to make it a more memorable and inspirational day? |

President Wagner, while being highly respected, will not be a big enough
draw for Emory to get it's name out there and become the
"destination university" it is striving to become. |

I respect President Wagner, but what is he going to tell us that we already
do not know . He is as much a part of the Emory bubble world as we are. I
want a real keynote speaker. Someone who will give us something to think
about and build upon in the years to come. Someone with an outside
perspective of this so-called great institution. Stop spending money on
ridiculous statues and give us a real speaker...and some more computers in
the library! |

While I think President Wagner had done a great job, butmy entire family
will be at graduation, and this is Emory's one chance to show how
amazing it can be and that the 40K a year was worth it. If Emory wants to
get its name out there, then bring in one of those big names so we will be
listed in the news along with all those other school who have Pres. Clinton
and Bill Cosby. Pres. Wagner can speak at class day. |
