HD-DVD = superior quality,performnace 4 hard & software superb price point.
BLU-RAY = over hyped over priced over marketed very poor all rounder.
through out the worlds forums HD-DVD brings together nothing but joyfull thoughts and discussions of how awesome it is now and in the future HD DVD came out cool and quiet and deliverd in excess of everyones hopes and dreams for the format and it must be applauded for its excellence. where as BLU-RAY brings nothing but sadness, complaints and painfull arguments on its all ready tired out all round performance and over hyped terrible marketing which has not one the consumers heart it has had the opposite effect.
so a word to the studios back the consumers choice where the software is selling now and for the future or carry on with BLURRY i mean BLU-RAY and watch your films collect dust..!!
I've already made my choice in this pointless format war - HD-DVD courtesty of the X360 add-on. I WILL buy good HD-DVD movies, and not blu-ray, therefore if you want my $$$...
HD-DVD Rocks! Come on FOX and Disney jump the Blu-Ray ship and join HD-DVD because Sony is just full of lies!
HD-DVD all the way!
Besides, the HD-DVD acronym will click better in the consumer's heads than Blu-Ray.
Go HD DVD! Quality, easy, affordable, and has good market penetration. There is tremendous potential for growth, even moreso than Blu-Ray products.
I hope Sony dies the slow painful death it deserves for their root-kit fiasco and high quality exploding batteries.
HD-DVD I feel is like the VHS in days of old. Blu-Ray, whilst technically slightly superior is like the Betamax in days of old. HD-DVD will win hands down.
All stores seem to be sold out of titles for HD-DVD but blue ray always has all their titles. What does that tell you. More people have HD-DVD. HD-DVD is the winner for me.
HD-DVD is going to be the winning format due to price alone. The two competing formats are no different in picture quality and features so why not support the format that most people can easily afford?!?
I have a collection of over 200 DVDs and in the past month have only bought titles on HD-DVD, many of which came in Combo HD-DVD/DVD format.
I bought the HD-DVD drive for my Xbox 360. I won't be buying a PS3 or a standalone Blu-Ray player because it is clear to me that Sony has lost the plot and cares little if at all for the consumers that buy their products. I thought they had learned after the ATRAC-over-MP3 fiasco, but apparently they are happy to create one proprietary Betamax-like mistake after another.
One of the main selling points to me was the lack of region coding on HD-DVD, as I am partial to watching movies in Japanese (where my wife is from) or the UK (where I am from) few of which make it to the US where I live.
My local Best Buy already has twice as much space for HD-DVD discs as Blu-Ray, so it seems it is more a question of when, not if Blu-Ray will fail.
Its also interesting that Sony itself is now saying there will be a PS4 in 2010 - in 3 short years - contrary to their original statements that the PS3 would be good enough for the next 10 years. It will be interesting to see if they keep the Blu-Ray drive in there next generation player given that it may already be a dead technology by then.
HD is cheaper with no loss of quality. Its much cheaper for the end users who are sick of high priced electronics just for teh sake of it. HD can be pushed as the peoples technology, rather than the luxury of the rich.
i purchased the xbox 360 hd dvd drive and am very pleased, i just hope that microsoft comes out with an HDMI so i can enjoy full 1080p. Plus i'm ready for more HD DVD titles that im really interested in!
HD DVD is the future. I have recently purchased the 360 add-on and the quality of the movies I have purchased thus far is superb and I look forward to purchasing more movies in the future.
I bought the 360 hd dvd add on and couldn't be more satisfied. I plan on building a healthy collection of hd dvd movies, and hopefully these studios will release all the great movies they're withholding.
I love your movies Fox, Disney, and etc... But to tell you the truth, i will not be forced to support a format i am unfamiliar with and the players are too damn expensive. Until you support HD DVD, I will never by a Blue Ray Disc.
Fox, Disney, and all the others... I long to see you movies in HD, but you will not force me to support Blu-ray to see them. I chose HD DVD, and hope you will see neutrality as the only solution.
There is a large demographic difference between myself and my girlfriend's parents, but in the end we both chose HD-DVD. I am the type of consumer who knows technology in and out, every picture and sound detail instantly made apparent the first time I see a new video technology. While on the other hand her parents are casual consumers. They don't know cell phones or computers from each other and they were not early adopters of HDTV. But the instant her parents saw HD-DVD running on my mediocre HDTV they were in awe at the difference. I've honestly never felt so proud to own a piece of new technology before. After watching Batman Begins my future mother in law took her husband to Circuit City to buy the Samsung HD-DVD player along with their very first HDTV.
That is how impressive the material, thats how affordable and honest the product is to the normal consumer.
Be smart studios, HD-DVD support is the way to go - regardless of it's competitors faults and and (almost nonexistant) advantages.
because HD DVD is the best consumer format. I have enjoyed lots of movies from these great studios and beg them to re-evaluate their previous decision, given the dominant market strength of HD DVD owners. We are your customers!
As a collector of over 1700 DVD's, and one of those buyers that puchases special releases of a title even when I currently own the title, I am a bit dismayed over this exclusivity. I purchased an HD-DVD player after careful consideration taking in all aspects of the different formats. HD-DVD ended up winning in my books based solely on quality and consistency of the releases. Warner and Paramount will continue to have my full support, as they have decided to release in both formats. I am not so sure about my continued support of Fox, Disney or Sony (in there SD releases) until they begin releasing product in HD-DVD format.
