I have a hd dvd player, I would love to see up to date hd dvd movies released at the same time as the dvds. As of now I fail to see the value in the format only because of the low selection of movies out now. all Hd dvd players are cheaper then blu-ray players, so more people will buy them now. I will continue to support HD dvd, but only if there is a healthy supply of movies released for the format. Its nice to see older movies released but we need more up to date movies released. Please I'm begging up to give HD DVD the support it needs.
I believe this is the easier and better format for the general populace. There is already the association for both HD and DVD and so HD-DVD will result in less confusion amongst the general populace.
Sony is like a big jock who doesn't care that he's an asshole, but he's got neat clothes, so why doesn't everyone like him? HD-DVD is infinitely more practical and cost-effective.
If 2 formats continue to persist, HD downloads and HD PPV will likely steal the segmented disk market. One format is the only solution which a disk based format can exist.
Format wars confuse the industry and delay adoption. HD-DVD is already the clear winner-- continuing to beat the dead Bluray horse only punishes early adopters and will, long term, destroy relationships with consumers that buy the soon-to-be-doorstop devices.
HD-DVD is the way to go. Cheaper is the key word here. Honestly, I don't buy movies to be able to do stuff like change colors on cars in the movie I am watching, but rather to just see and enjoy the movie.
Blu-Ray is too little, too late, and too expensive. Consumers have voted with their dollars. HD DVD players and titles are outselling Blu-Ray by a wide margin. Playing games by withholding content to favor the losing side will only hurt the studios and further alienate consumers.
My Toshiba HD-A1 player is the happiest surprise I've ever had in electronic equipment. This player surpasses my best hopes for up-converting and for HD movie picture and suond quality.
The faster we can move to a single HD media format, the faster it will be adopted by the mass consumer market. A quick, backwards-compatible transition is in everyone's interest - both producers and consumers.
Now that we have seen the relative price/performance of the two competing media formats, it seems that there is little use in continuing to allow Blu-Ray to delay the overall market transition while damaging the customer perception of HD in general.
I am in favor of HD-DVD as it's more pocket friendly to the consumer. Technically...HD-DVD shown to be a solid format and piece of technical hardware. Please, support HD-DVD. You have many, many potential buyers in the HD-DVD market. I am ready and willing to by 10 titles right off the bat!
I have to admit that Beta was technically better than VHS, but ultimately the consumer declared the winner. The High Definition Disc war will be the same thing - and once again Sony will lose.
Would Love to see 20th century Fox and reall all studios produce HD-DVD titles.... I work in electronics retail and have seen first hand both formats side by side on high end TVs... and I love the quality of HD-DVD and Price point compaired to blu-ray.
Sony sold the promises of Blueray to all the studios and many bought the hype! I've stopped buying movies from those studios until they realize their mistake.
HD-DVD seems like the obvious solution, its production is easier, its cheaper, and the quality was good FROM THE START. Also it will be easier to promote for mass adoption due to its name recognition.
