I and many of my friends are big DVD buyers, and none of us have bought a Blue-ray disc. On the other hand we have purchased several HD DVD discs, and the XBOX 360 drive. Blueray is dying fast, their should be one standard other then DVD...HD DVD.
To get started on HDDVD is cheaper than BR, it has much more features than BR, it really does have a better picture than BR, So lets make the best format win!
I think this hd dvd and blu ray war should end! It is already stupid enough that people who have hd dvd players are not able to buy movies by sony productions and other companies who support bluray. Studios should at least release their movies in both formats since its their gain.
You heard it people. Definitely don't want to end up with a bunch of expensive coasters..... HAHA. In you rface arrogant Sony, and your piece of $H!T 3.
Remember Betamax vs. VHS? Same situation here, except that HD-DVD really IS the better choice. Why side with a technically inferior and more expensive format? I hope reason prevails SOON!
Not supporting HD DVD will be a huge mistake. I hope all the Blu-Ray spporters are secure in knowing that they will be losing millions of potential cash due to only supporting Blu-Ray.
Please give us releases on HD DVD and let the customers decide this format war. Say no to Sony's bullying and poor handling of Blu Ray, Let us show you that HD DVD can give the support needed for the next gen formats!
I have both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 w/HD-DVD player, and I'm much happier with the video quality of HD-DVD. I've bought 5 HD-DVDs and only have Talladega Nights on Blu-ray which came with the PS3.
While Blu-ray has done a lot of good for the consumer (war has pushed both sides), I think it's becoming more and more evident the consumers want 1 universal format and HD DVD is the logical choice for the consumer. Please think of us :)
I have watched both blueray and hd dvd. To be honest they look the same. hd is far more affordable and therefore far more practical. Sales are already indicating the majority of consumers moving towards the more affordable hd dvd format. Dragging this thing out by supporting blueray only stands to forse both formats to lose, and leave alot of studios out of money. Abandon blueray if you really know what is good for your stocks.
I do no like multiple formats. There are several movies that I would love to have HD versions of several movies but some studios only make them for BluRay. That sucks because I already have an HD DVD drive and refuse to buy another one. Those studios just wont get my money.
HD DVD is the only way to go. The studios that support the other format need to do the right thing and support HD DVD. I already have my X Box 360 HD DVD player and a few movies.
I picked up the HD DVD drive for the Xbox 360 and LOVE the format. The price point and superior reviews regarding quality should help persuade more consumers.
Sorry, Sony, ya lost this one.
HD has already won, "B-R" has lost the war!!, the only option for Blue-Ray is for optical high dentisy storage of data, it will never succeed as a movie format beacuse of price gap.
Lets get this over with so the other studios will release thier movies on HD-DVD, like superman returns, thier only losing money by not releasing them on both formats.
Sony lost me as a customer for all of it's products with the last straw of the "root-kit fiasco" on their music CD's. I do believe that Blu-Ray is "technically" superior to HD-DVD. However, from a consumer stand point, the HD-DVD format is cheaper, easier, and has a more familiar name for the average consumer. There is no reason for Sony to be stubborn, whiny babies about losing Blu-Ray and switching to HD-DVD with the rest of the world. But then again, do you remember Betamax?
I have both a HD DVD player and a Blu-ray player. I am consistently impressed with the quality of my HD DVD discs. I am consistently disappointed with most of the Blu-ray discs I have watched in my home. I am reluctant to purchase Blu-ray discs because of their inferior picture quality and lack of 'next-gen-DVD' features which makes me think I'm signing up for a "double-dip" and will end up re-purchasing movies because of inevitable 'special Blu-ray editions' that (IE: Blu-ray discs that have True HD soundtracks and VC1 encoded pictures).
Please support HD DVD so I can purchase and enjoy your movies in the quality I expect from a 'next-gen' disc.
