One thing that really makes me want HD DVD to win is becouse they did NOT comprmoise on protection(harder to scratch), that is the only reason why BD has more space becouse it can be scrached easy and thats a no no.
Blu Ray is not delivering on it's many promises, and a format war does not aid consumers. HD-DVD is the way to go. Studios should not try to dictate which format we consumers choose.
I hope HD DVD wins. I also hope this slaps Sony in the face to get them interested in consumers interest not just their own. This battle did help thwart some DRM stuff though.(e.g. component cables are ok to use) We have that to be thankful though.
Consumers need a single format before the HD market can truly grow! Lower cost, many releases have better video and audio (Dolby TrueHD) on the HD-DVD releases, etc.
HD DVD is a logical evolution of the DVD format. Sony's repeated past format failures (Betamax & UMD for example) demonstrate that Bluray is already doomed. HD DVD is cheaper, same quality, and has been around longer. It will be the prevailing format in the future.
HD-DVD all the way. Plain and simple. And if MGM wants to only back BR, then to hell with them too. I can keep MGM out of my movies collection till they come to see the light.
Mini-Disk, Lazer Disk, Beta Max, PSP movies and the list goes on and on. Do what we all know should be done and give the backing to the format we know will come out on top. HD-DVD. Better price, better quality and "DVD" is a name we already know and trust.
There should be only 1 standard...much like VHS vs Betamax. HD-DVD is much less expensive than Blu-Ray, in all facets (hardware, production costs, and for retail movies). The industry should unite behind the clear winner to improve market saturation and keep costs lower for the consumers.
Sonys track record really scares me so I went with the 360 add-on. Movies look great and are priced cheaper than blu-ray. Great format, keep the movies coming.
As an HD-DVD owner, I would love to see the Pixar movies in HD. But I am not going to spend $799-$1000 on a player to do so. So please release movies on HD-DVD.
I have 360 add on unit and I can't describe how great these disks look. I am making HD DVD disks a priority over all others as long as they are available. All studios need to support this format.
HD is the best solution to the media format question. If the adult industry supports HD, then it's over. There should only be one. Don't confuse consumers.
I am in support of HD-DVD, and am close to the purchase of the inexpensive 360 HD-DVD player. Can't beat a next gen player for $200, along with better picture quality!
