Multiple formats only hurt the industry, people will hold off buying until there is a 'winner'. I believe HD DVD offers better value for money for the consumer, and has the interests of the market reperesented the best.
I've just bought an HD-DVD player and not only is it cheaper than a Blue Ray player but the quality of HD-DVD is on par if not better than Blu-Ray. I've started a collection of movies and hope to continue buying more. The average consumer already has it in their psych that HD-DVD is a natural progression from DVD so I have no reason to doubt that it will end up in most peoples homes rather than Blu Ray which the name in itself is alienating consumers.
HD-DVD will win, if for nothing else, its name is more recognizable as a hi-def DVD, instead of a blue ray thing...what’s that? It was a horrible invention that tried to take over the world but failed because of ignorance.
HD-DVD deserves support from the studios. It is better known and has better software support behind it. Quit supporting a company (Sony) that has a proven track record of failed formats!
there needs to only be one format, or a player that is capable of playing both formats. but if Sony and blu-ray are not able to quickly overcome the problems with the blu-ray, they need to abandon the blu-ray and have it solely for mass storage(computers) and for the PS3 and allow the movie format to be HD-DVD
Sony has always tried to force their own formats to "own" the market. With their "root kit" attempt, and even that fake movie reviewer - I DON'T TRUST them.
Among the other reasons, this is a big one. If they win this format thing, what happens to us then? All the copy protectiom in Bluray is still mostly a secret - we don't know what they'll do if they win!
HD DVD is the one for me, and I won't buy blur-say...
Blue Ray is too expensive, seems to offer no advantage over HD DVD but capacity. This doesn't matter to me as long as I can get a full movie on one disk.
