HD-DVD players are less expensive than Blu-Ray hardware, and have also been less troublesome. In situations where I have been able to directly compare the two, the video quality of HD-DVD has been superior.
HD-DVD is cheaper and superior/better than bluray or the same, but to try and dominate a format over storage is rediculous, especially if it is not needed, having HD-DVD on 2 discs is perfectly fine 1 for the movie and 1 for the extras if it can be done on dvd then it should be ok on HD-DVD, mass storage of 50GB and 100GB on the bluray is stupid it's far to ahead of it's time and also expensive the larger storage discs you get the price will increase along with it, HD-DVD should be the standard because the pricing is appealing to every body based on disc costs and player costs also it performs the same as bluray but at a cheaper price that appeals to middle class as well as high class living.
I am an unbiased customer and have spent a ton of money on HD DVD software and products. I've looked at both sides and chosen Toshiba's format since they have delivered what I prefer as they typical, loyal customer. Companies!-Please, support HD DVD so I can make your profits grow and and so we can all enjoy the best high-def has to offer!
hd dvd is ace! its about time disney stopped stating on the LOSING side!!! there is no reason for them to not release on hd dvd... if they want SALES!!!
HD-DVD looks much better than Blu-ray. The price is more consumer friendly, and the only reason its in the PS3 is to push its failing sales. You cant push failing Blu-ray sales with a system thats failing already.
HD DVD has delivered on quality, features & cost where-as Blu-ray quite simply hasn't. It's 2-3 times the cost for, at-best, the same quality... I don't think so! I will NEVER buy Blu-ray due to Sony's involvement.
Please release the content on HD DVD. Sony has always tried to stand alone, and I am tired of this type of behavior. They run the risk of both formats losing and then everyone loses.
Think about this
Mention HD DVD to someone and they will assume thats its a dvd...thats in hd
Mention Blu-ray to someone....and they'll probable think your talking about a lighting ficture
and now this next gen dvd player. start the bidding. person 1 :"$1000 bob." person 2 :"$500 bob." actual retail price: $500! can u guess if this is s bluray player or hd-dvd player?
I support HD-DVD because the players are affordable and produce better video image than blu-ray. Movies should be produced for the people and not by format. Let the people determine which format is better (HD-DVD).
Blu Ray is nice, but HD-DVD is better. I think that if everyone was given the choice between the same movies on both formats, HD-DVD would sell much better.
Disney don't be used as a pawn in this format war. You are the peoples company , your fans and children all over made you what you are today. So don't forget about us now. HD-DVD is the format of choice for the videophile and the general public, only Sony fans back Bluray not the real consumers. Thank you
I originally supported Blu-ray because of the sony propaganda machine, but the players are just too expensive. I recently purchased the xbox addon and have been amazed at the picture quality. Why would anyone pay twice as much for a player with the same quality. Who really cares if the disc can hold a little bit more. The price of the players will always win out.
1 format is the way to go. This is just VHS and Beta all over again. HD DVD is cheaper, better (in some cases), and is a more familiar name. Sony needs to end this.
I think the studios need to realize they are alienating people who have HD DVD and that I plan to change my entire collection (over 2000 standard DVD's) to HD DVD and anyones not available WILL NOT be replaced. So please reconsider realising your films on HD DVD.
I think IPTV or some other form of on-demand content will ultimately supercede all HD DVD formats so I won't be investing heavily in either format. Still, I would like to see one format or the other emerge as a standard and I'd rather it was HD-DVD since it is cheaper and apparently better quality.
Speaking from a purely economic and consumer perpective, HD-DVD is the optimal choice. The medium costs less to produce, the hardware costs less, and the profit margins are greater for HD-DVD studios. HD-DVD adopters are not forced to pay exorbitant royalties, which is in stark contrast to the royalties that Blu-Ray adopters must pay to Sony.
I demand to see more titles in HD-DVD. I have been so disappointed by the quality of Bluray and want to see more global support of the superior HDDVD format. HDDVD rules!
