I've only had my XBOX HD Drive for a few weeks, but I already have 12 HD titles because it's SO good. Even at the Sony Style store, with their best tv and Blu-Ray setup, I wasn't impressed. It didn't come close to what I had going on at home. Let's just call it a day, get everyone over to HD and start putting out the big titles that really blow us away (Star Wars, Aliens, Matrix, LOTR, Pirates of the Caribbean)
consumers understand what DVD is and they also understand what HD is... this makes understanding HD-DVD automatic. this translates into a win for HD-DVD as consumers are more apt to purchase something they can more easily relate to as opposed to an obscure although coll-sounding alternative. I just wish more box manufactures were on the boat with toshiba. i have the toshiba player and it is great, but i would have bought the pioneer had it been available.
Fox will come aboard with HDDVD, I know it will be soon, they don't want to lose out on all this potential profit... it is quite obvious noone is buying blueray. Also Sony will see how many sales they are missing out on by not releasing their movies on HDDVD, I give Sony maybe 2 years to start doing HDDVD.
I really hope that HD DVD wins the war. Let's bring all the greats out on HD DVD at a more affordable cost! Don't force consumers to pay for something they don't have to!
Their is simply no need to pay high costs for discs from other formats for extra space that will never be needed. When purchasing a DVD i'm simply looking for the film itself. Not extras or commentary but the best quality video and sound that I can find. HD DVD is simply that. So please support the format and make it what it already is and will soon become. The future of home entertainment. The look and sound of perfect - HD DVD.
I was planning to keep out of this format war until a clear winner was decided. But i kept hearing all these great things about HD-DVD. Better encoding, better picture quality due to better encoding, more affordable, more available titles. I've got an HDTV so caved. I got the HD player add-on for the Xbox 360 and ordered nine movies. There was only one DVD, let there be only one HD-DVD.
Having 2 formats only hurts consumers who must juggle between the 2 & making equipment more expensive & decisions more difficult. To bring HD to the world lets not have this battle.
I think HD DVD should be standard format. I believe that everyone (unless they've been living under a rock ;^P) identifies with the "DVD" name. So an "HD DVD" name would not throw anyone off, because they are familiar with the "DVD" name and format. Now if you mention Bluray, people might say," what is that? Is that some type of alien gun?" ;^) I know it's not all about the name or how they commercialize it, but that's one reason and the other reasons have already been mentioned before. HD DVD has far surpassed Bluray in sales, commercials and "user friendliness" I believe. My 2 cents worth, -mIk3-
I'm an open mind person when it comes of critic something but i Compare my self both formats
and HD DVD has by far a better picture than blue ray and i watched on a 6k HDTV DLP, so for me HD DVD is the way to go!
Please support HD DVD, as a consumer this is the most cost effective and logical choice.
Thanks for Listening
