I would like to see a winner for both formats to be able to play on one unit. That way we all can watch anything we want. If its not possible then let HDDVD win!
I support HD DVD for the reason that it gives a higher quality picture, better price on the HD DVD player and HD DVD discs. As with most people better quality products and price is the way to go.
Thank you,
Ricahrd C.
It isn't right for consumers to have to buy 1 player to watch one movie but not be able to watch it at a friends house cuz they dont have the same format
HD-DVD only. Format wars only hurt the consumer. My Xbox 360 HD-DVD player is awesome...to think that some people got duped into spending $1000 on a Blu-Ray player makes me sick. Sony, I love your PC's, but I don't think you can handle HD-DVD. Give it up now before you regret it!
Sony has never won a format war....Their idea to "change the way we see things..simply is how can Sony make more money? By forcing a format that is more expensive and equal or less in quality.
I want HD DVD on my new HD TV - NOW - not 10 years from now after dueling forces wake up to consumer demands. I'm a senior. I don't have time on my side for this crap!
When Walt Disney created Mickey Mouse, Seven Dwarfs..,Cinderella and other countless works he meant to let the whole world watch and enjoy his masterpieces. Today his heirs are being kept hostage. Make Walt Disney dream come true let the whole world watch these masterpieces on HD-DVD too
Ask much money as I've spent on Disney products since having kids, I can't believe they're not willing to put their movies out in HD-DVD so I can give them some more.
Sony blew it again. I was in the Bluray camp until everything started to fall apart. The HD DVD format with VC1 encoding delivers an amazing picture! The next generation of DVDs should exceed the success of the previous generation... but that can only be done with one format.
Sony does not have the consumers best intersts at heart. The studios should support both formats and let the consumer show the way to the format of choice. I will be supporting HD DVD as I feel it offers superior quality at a much more reasonable cost.
Well, I just bought my HD-DVD player for $200 thanks to the addon for xbox360, so that settles it for me. Too little too late for sony, and they may have screwed up the PS3's future in the process.
This reminds me of the betamax vhs war, sony lost out then and I hope they lose out here.HD DVD is the format to go with, in my opinion it's all about the picture quality, and price.I hope the movie mongels will come to their senses and back what will be the predominant format.
I own nearly 500 movies on VHS and DVD, I am probably good for another 300-400 in HD-DVD now that I have bought in. Any movies we buy really need to play on all of our home players - which are standard DVD
Please, HD-DVD is not only a superior choice for quality right now, but a better choice for manufacturers because it is cheaper to produce and less prone to external damages.
I remember the Betamax vs. VHS format war. Betamax was superior, but VHS players were cheaper and there were more VHS titles after the first year. It didn't take a genius to figure out who was going to win that battle. Here we are with another format war and it's obvious history is repeating itself. I went with HD-DVD, confident that economics and market share beat technology every time. You'd think that Sony would have learned that lesson the first time around. Let Bluray do what it does best, become the standard for high capacity computer backup, and let the HD-DVD format become the standard for all HD movie releases.
Honestly to me, Blu-Ray doesn't even look as clear and smooth as HD-DVD does. I own a Xbox 360 HD-DVD player and it's hooked up to a 2003 Panasonic 1080i projection. It looks better than a Blu-Ray hooked up to a Samsung 1080p projection that I've seen at Circuit City and Best Buy displays. I'm not saying a whole lot better but smoother and clearer. I will be an HD-DVD supporter all the way for the fact that I can get great quality at a good price. When I upgrade my entire home theater system, I will be purchasing the Toshiba HD-DVD player. As of right now I have 9 HD-DVDs collected.
I just got the HD DVD player for the xbox360 and I need more titles to choose from. I need Star Wars in HD. I need Pirates and Cars and Everyother movie that is only on blue ray. Please relize that if you do both formats everyone wins.
Forget the idea of a format war and rely on good buisness sense. With this many people supporting HD DVD why wouldn't corporate america want to participate in making more titles available for HD DVD? Because of lack of available data and pride. See the problem is certain companies have lost touch with the customer's wants. Customers are what should drive the business not company agendas. Hd Dvd for the most part have shown the ability to sell their product. As time goes, if even more people buy into Hd dvd, will the companies regress and realize maybe their product can be also sold on Hd dvd. I believe they will because profit will determine the outcome.
I have the HD-DVD add on for Xbox 360 and have ALREADY started to buy HD-DVD only movies. The quality between HD-DVD and ANY OTHER FORMAT is absolutely 'night and day!' So film studios, GET RELEASING because we're ready to spend!!!
