HD DVD , for $199 and you get a free movie and remote for the 360 you cant lose. The picture quality is better. They only need more movie studio support. FOX, Disney, and Lionsgate need to switch over to the winning side.
HD DVD is the way to go we need more titles more hd cartoon animated like ice age over the hedge come on guys lets do this gooo!!!! hd!!
sony you suck!
I was really on the fence about picking sides, but I love my Xbox 360 HD DVD drive. It think it is one of the best options for consumers and I want to continue seeing movies supported on it.
HD-DVD makes the most sense...Sony is the propriatary king of electronics..jump on their wagon and we are doomed as consumers. This is the same group that brought us Beta...thanks but no thanks..i'm sticking to HD-DVD.
Blu Ray has taken some great storage tech and made a dog of a video format. Whats the use of all the space if you waste it with a bad format. I will only support HD DVD for video and maybe a Blu Ray burner for work backup if the prices drop. EVD has a better chance of working in the west the the Blu Ray spec. ( and I live in a country that does not yet have HD DVD players for sale but lots of Blu Ray stock, none of which is selling.)
Every great Empire has it's fall and Sony's hubris is shining through. HD DVD is just far superior, and Sony's stubborn attitude is seriously hurting it's credibility. HD DVD is the quality I want, with the ease of playing old discs on the new HD player and flipped over HD DVDs on my girls regular old DVD player. It a better quality picture, it's cheaper and it's more convienient, HD DVD Rules !!!!!!
I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT HD DVD IS MORE SUPERIOR THAN BLU-RAY BUT I JUST HOPE THAT THE OTHER MOVIE STUDIOS WAKE UP AND UNDERSTAND THIS. SONY IS ALL ABOUT TRYING TO PERSUADE CUSTOMERS WHY TO INVEST IN THEIR TECHNOLOGY BUT THEY DON'T DELIVER TO FULL POTENTIAL. SO PLEASE TO THE OTHER MOVIE STUDIOS THAT HAD BEEN TRICKED INTO THINKING THAT BLU-RAY WAS THE NEXT HD VIDEO FORMAT START BRINGING YOUR MOVIES TO HD-DVD SO THAT WE CAN SUPPORT YOU.
Sony has a nasty habit of forcing its consumers to be brand loyal. Their digital cameras use a memory device that is only compatible with other Sony products. This is fine if you only EVER buy Sony products. Personally, I like having a choice and not limiting my options based on brand support. That would be like ONLY buying Nike clothing because I own a pair of their shoes. I WANT MY HD-DVD!
Cost, Compatability, and HD-DVD Combo Disc...two movie platforms for the price of one allows for greater usability within my 1 HD-DVD device and 3 DVD device home...I also just retunred my PS3 unopened.
I'm an avid movie buff, having over 300 dvd's thus far. I recently purchased the HD-DVD addon for the Xbox360 and I can't praise it enough. The picture quality is amazing. I'm looking forward to growing my HD-DVD collection now.
Blu-ray is NOT winning the next generation video war! Look at it from a consumers point of view, HD-DVD's are $25 and Blu-Ray are $30. Standard DVD's are $20 at release, so it seems logical to pay the extra $5 to see the film you want in High Definition... not $30! Blu-Ray players and discs are a fortune to create and distribute while HD-DVD is affordable, and if you look at the reviews anywhere are getting significantly better reviews than Blu-Ray. Many Blu-Ray complaints are that the image can be grainy and not as interactive as HD-DVD. On top of all this, Microsoft released a $200 external drive for the Xbox 360 and HP has a $100 dollar drive update for the computer compared to Sony's $750 Blu-Ray drive which was originally more until HP did that. You'd be wise to invest in HD-DVD, everyone I know and have read prefers it.
Don't "strong-arm" your customers into an inferior technology. #1 rule in sales, cater to the customer. Offer your titles in HD DVD and let the customer decide, not Sony.
HD/DVD seems the clear choice. Not only is it cheaper, but it will be a smoother transition for buyers as it already uses the DVD format. Go HD/DVD, Go!!!!!!!!!
After research Blu-ray is unneeded format. To much memory, and high price production costs just aren't needed. Also the disks are more delicate. The HD-DVD seems like the better format.
I prefer HD DVD over Blu-Ray because of one reason it is the cheapest. I have a 2000+ DVD library that I do not want to upgrade. I bought the 2x X-Box 360s over PS3 and I'm very happy with the technology and the end results.
As a strong Movie supporter, I hope HD-DVD wins out. We're past the point where early adopters should have to pay over $1000 for an entry level player.
i bought a toshiba hd dvd player last month. i almost opted for blu-ray but the quality and price made me go with hd and i'm glad i did. i just hope they come out with more movies soon.
