I have purchased a Xbox 360 HD dvd add on. and 4 movies. There are so many Disney and lions gates moives I would love to own in this format. There needs to be only one format availabe to consumers. HD-DVD is less expensive and more attenable.
HD-DVD is the better format and my preference. Plus among other, Intel and Microsoft support them. Sony's Blu-Ray will fail just like every other proprietary creation they come up with. Remember Sony's "copy-protected" CDs that destroyed everyone's computers, disabled their CD drives, and infected them with rootkits a few months ago?
Is your bonus based on current or future earnings and profits? HD DVD is ready for the consumer and making money now. Blu Ray may do the same in the future. How long do you want to wait?
Do mot need higher cost for movies. 30 gig is enough with all the special features included. I have the 360 hd drive and have fallen in love with it. Can't stop buying the movies again. I say sorry to my wife who doesn't know i'm always on ebay trying to get a bargain. the 360 hd dvd player also upconverts the movies to a higher resolution, which is very visible. I have a 1080p samsung and I cannot see why you need an extra 20 gigs of info for the blu ray. OVERKILL.
Blu-Ray is dead. You know it. I know it. So save yourself further shame by releasing on HD-DVD now! It would only result in you making more money after all!
HD-DVD is clearly the superior format, not only in terms of audio/video quality and background but with sales too as has and continues to be shown when figures are compaired with that of Blu-ray disc sales. Just look at Sony's past track records for media formats... betamax flopped, the UMD format has crashed and burned, and the MiniDisc only lasted for something like 6 months.
Why bother with an unproven format that clearly fails to deliver a satisfactory end result when you have one that already has a steady background and is now building on that? Time for companies like FOX, Disney and Lions Gate to jump ship to the format that more and more people are now supporting.
30GB is enough to provide excellent picture and audio quality. Sony just feels the need to make things difficult. Beta/MiniDisc/UMD... all failed formats. Blu-Ray will fail too. Come on Hollywood, open your eyes to the truth.
I also agree. I think rather than forcing a revolution upon consumers the world of electronics and media is an evolutionary process.
Not including BetaMax they also failed at MiniDisc that tried to one up simple and easy to use mp3 players at the time. Sony's Memory Sticks with Magicgate. It rings the sound of the old Macintosh world from the 80's when everything was proprietary.
PLease reconsider release of movies for HD DVD instead of Blue-ray.
Many people including my family and family members hear the word HD DVD and say, "Oooh High Definition DVD, cool!" Then hear "Blu-ray" and they say "what is that?"
Without looking up "Blue-ray" I don't even know how to spell it. Blueray, BlueRay Blue Ray, Blue-ray, or Blue-Ray?
But HD DVD? Well it's obvious.
Thanks for your time and consideration.

There should never been 2 formats in HD world. Please learn from previous mistakes and move on to the future smarter. We all are loosing on this format war, specially the consumer.
How many proprietary formats must Sony fail with (Betamax, MiniDisc, Memory Stick/Memory Stick Duo, UMD) before they aren't allowed to come out with any more BS?
Vote with your wallet...support the cheaper, better HD-DVD.
The choice is clear.
HD-DVD is the consumers choice for HD Home Movies.
Let Blu-Ray succeed as a computer storage format where capacity really matters.
I am an HD DVD owner and would like all studio's to be format neutral and let the market decide which format is better. I've already voted with my money. Any studio that isn't releasing movies in HD DVD are saying they don't want my business (money). Sony's track record speaks volumes...promise everything, deliver nothing.
HD has definitely had the more consistent picture quality. Plus, the price point of the players and media have been more within my price range. Please support HD DVD with more content.
hd dvd, name recognition says it all, dvd is a household name and the leap to high def just makes more sense to me than Bluray. sounds like an aquatic anomoly
I'm a big Disney fan but they are making a big mistake not bringing out their titles in HD-DVD. I hope Blue-Ray is not gone in 60 seconds like Beta was.
I support either format as long as the source material can be made available for either company. HD is HD I just want to view my movies in one format and view them in 1080P 24fps. I dont even mind 2 choices just dont split the studios. I really blame the studios for not allowing both camps to release their material on both Blu Ray and HD DVD
HD DVD is the only viable format. Sony has lied to the people and the studios I will never supprot blu-ray. I would rather suffer upconverted dvds then put one dime in blu-ray's bank.
Please start bringing more movies to HD DVD, but don't be a slacker about it, make sure they are good transfers! (I.E.: King Kong, Hulk type quality!).
Won't buy Blu-ray because it will mean that I need another DVD player for a currently large DVD collection. Biggest turn-off about Sony in general is that they dance to their own tune with their own proprietary products - i.e. memory stick. HD DVD all the way
